The Feather Popular razor actually only comes with 2 hi-stainless blades in the standard 5 blade box. Just a heads up in case you bought one and thought you got gypped. These make a great travel razor.

In my experience, the Feather Popular is an extremely mild razor that depends on the super-sharp (and expensive) Feather blades to do most of the work. I've never been able to get it to work properly on my extremely course beard hair. However, by pairing it with softer blades like Sharks or Astras, I've found it a wonderful razor for shaving my head with.

Gotta love ppl with ‘easy’ beards shaving. It all looks so easy. Whilst the act of DE shaving is easy to me, there is no way I could do my face and especially chin, like you do Geo. My chin is a rock hard, wire wool area that would not come off in one pass like that. And that’s with me using a 39C and Astra SP blade. TOBS is awesome. That is my only shaving cream now 😀👍🏻

As far as I know, feather DE razor blades are sharper than astra. The sharpest of the bunch actually. I too have a very strong hairs, and have no problem whatsoever with feather blades. Others not so much. Tried derby (absolute horror, intended for light bearded men), gillette platinum (not bad) and astra (also not bad). The down side is that it mercilessly cuts off all uneven spots on your face. Try it.

The general claim is that traditional razor blades, as opposed to multi-edged cartridges, do not pollute the environment with tons of plastic, which is, however, thwarted in the case of razor blades supplied in plastic boxes. Therefore, I highly appreciate your great idea of utilizing the empty boxes as used blade disposal banks, which gives them sense.

Can someone help me? I plan to buy a straight razor.. What other things would I have to buy to use it for a long time? For strop and honing? Can I maintain it myself my whole life? Or would I have to give it outside for sharpening?
@Nights_eye_puppets
@Nights_eye_puppets 4 жыл бұрын
A strop is important to maintain the edge if you plan on using a “straight“ often. Honing yourself would work in your benefit in the long run as it would save you money. Two stones is all you’ll need to maintain a sharp and working edge. There are some great ones out there that won’t break the bank. I was told by a wise person who’s been in the “game” for a long time that pressure is your enemy when it comes to honing. So take that with a “grain of salt”. Their are many reputable hone meisters out there that can hone your razor using different types of mediums and charge different prices. I’ve had certain individuals hone razors for me in the past and after shaving with them over 30 times have still kept there edge. As long as you have a strop(doesn’t have to cost you much) and your technique is good, your edge will be good enough that your shaves should be comfortable.

Do fusion pro Glides give a closer shave than safety razors or is it the other way around ? Because my pro glide gets pretty close

Paul Schneider Finally got around to getting one - it is just outstanding shaver, forget about the cheap price. i usually alternate between a Fatboy, slim adjustable, Merkur 34 and 23, and a Mule 89 - and never use a feather blade. This time I had 3 days growth like Geo and also have sensitive skin. Your comments, very smooth, efficient and result is a baby smooth shave with no irritation is exactly what I experienced. Watching your facial expression was how I felt while shaving with is one. Having shaved with about 20+ DE razors going back to vintage 1918 to Parker variant and Rockwell - this Feather can't be beat. Question - is the feather $180 approximately razor any better than this? Thanks

The Feather All Stainless Steel safety razor would definitely prevail over the plastic version shown in the video.It's not even comparing apples to apples. But if someone is on a budget-you get what you can get and make the best of it. Both are mild shaving razors best for light beard growth. shavenation.com/search?q=feather+all+stainless

No, it rejects any other blades by the razor scanning a qr code on feather blades. Lol I’m a smartass. Yes you can, but why would you want to? Feather is the best blades on the planet.

I personally prefer the Dorco stainless 301 hq over the feather blades, they are cheaper and last a bit longer in my experience.

Hi Geo! I have rosacea and I recently started shaving with a safety razor, it's been night and day but I don't trust the quality of my razor. The only imported one that I can get in my country is the Feather Popular, so I really appreciate the video. Sincere thanks from Argentina. I noticed that your hand shake a bit whenever you hold stuff for the camera. Is your health okay?

Shaving with this razor was like somebody was peeling off my face skin. Now, with a soft blade, like Derby or Wilkinson works better but not much. I am no shaving expert, maybe I do something wrong or I didn't do something, I don't know. If you have any advice I would appreciate it. I believe is not for me and I should go for something else.

Your probably pressing to hard, just let the blade do all the work, very light pressure only

@@yeahmatewhatever2054 Thanks, but I've remembered an old saying, if an equation does not work change every variable possible. In my case, was the water. I have not soaked my beard and my face with water hot enough.

Is it agressive razor for a beginner?
@Mikey-ym6ok
@Mikey-ym6ok 3 жыл бұрын
Nah. But don’t be afraid of using an aggressive razor. I learned on a murker 34c which is very aggressive. As long as you can be gentle with it it’s perfectly fine for newbies. With this razor you kind of have to press harder on your skin to cut the beard but then it’ll shave off some skin.
