@@Mrachsohallo no, I still wet shave, but I'm no longer buying new products, prices have got so stupid, plus I got more shaving supplies here to last me well past my life span. I am new to DE shaving although I have been shaving for over 40 years. Purchased the Henson AL13 Mild (Black looks sick). I have sensitive skin and shave every second day. This method is the bomb. I have followed it religiously and it works like MAGIC. I get a BBS smooth shave on my cheeks and an irritation-free shave below the jawline. Geo should be crowned the "Godfather of Shaving". He's got my vote. Do any others feel the same way?

@@owensterry29 have you practiced this style at all? I'm only really used to multi-blade razors and I just struggle to comfortably shave against the grain to get that 'baby-smooth' finish, wondering if it's really worth trying to learn a safety razor + this approach
@templeofdelusion
@templeofdelusion Ай бұрын
@@offbrandbiscuit There's nothing to learn about safety razor. If you're a lazy bum and you're happy with fastest and plainest possible shave, you can use canned foam, sloppily slap it onto your face, do first pass along the grain as fast as the guy did in the video, rinse your face off and move on, it's practically impossible to cut yourself as there's always more hair guarding your skin. It is literally what I do when I have to leave in 5mins. If you do it against the grain, cartridges can cut you too.

Nice. I learned some things. Thanks! One thing I learned a long time ago from a Gillette publication from the 1960's, was that the beard has different densities. The cheeks/sides of the face and neck are the least dense and should be shaved first. Then the mustache area and finally the chin. The chin is the most dense. By going in this order, at least for the first pass, the more dense areas of the beard are given longer to soften with the most dense area, the chin, being given the longest time to soften. I just became a subscriber. Thanks again.

I seriously recommend that anyone that may need a first shave just start out with a safety razor and DE blades, be ready to spend some money and get a good one like a Merkur, and use shave soap or cream rather than aerosol products. Don't waste your time with cartridge systems, it is all marketing and mostly a scam!

Thomas Jefferson listen , one of the main things that separates men from boys and men from women is facial hair, why the hell would you try to go against what God created you to look like? There is nothing wrong with grooming your beard and keeping it at a certain lengh of your choice but shaving it all off? That's a big no no.. And a waste of money too all that money adds up, also your cutting up your skin and putting toxic liquid on it every day, when all you have to simply do is let your beard grow and groom it at the barbershop every few weeks vs shaving everyday..

Greetings from Toronto. After watching this video, I went back to watching a few videos by other shavers. I noted that in many cases, the person shaved against the grain with roughly the same angle used for with and for across the grain. To test this technique, I did a two pass shave with a Muhle R41. In the second pass across the grain, I deliberately left some hair. I re-lathered the cheeks for a third pass, and placed the cap next to the skin, then tilted slightly up just until it caught. Sure enough, I got an irritation free BBS shave. This was reinforced by when applying the Alum block, there was no irritation whatsoever, So yeah. It works and. thank you. Moe Go Blue Jays

Ever since I started watching your video. I became a fan of safety razor. Now I have merkur muhle and Parker. Now I am learning the straight razor shaving from you. Still dare to try. I will try once. During my childhood days I still remember my grand father used to shave using straight razor. Your videos are very good and feels very fresh .

Geo, you're a great instructor and I just started using the safety razor about a month ago! My goal is to shave as quick and safely as you. Keep it up and on this video, I learned about the gradual reduction and how to angle the blade just right!! Thanks!!!

Holy Shit! I have rhino skin everywhere but my neck. I’ve been trying to use multiple DE razors/blades/creams for years and always ended up a bloody mess. I just tried your “stand the razor on it’s head” method and I got the best shave ever. Nice and smooth and no arterial spray! Thank you for all of the tutorials. You’re doing gods work. Oh and I’m using a vintage fat boy with derby blades.

Thanks for this video. Great technique for going against the grain on that 3rd pass. That was one aspect of my technique that was a bit weak.

I did it with three steps this morning, with a cartridge that is on it's 12th workout. (I strop the cartridge after cleaning and drying on the back of my forearm to sharpen it up) Baby smooth.

Brother, Thank you for your videos and tips. I just shaved with my first DE razor - Parker 76R. Your tips definitely made this a nick-free shave. After 44 years and using cartridge razors 25 of those years, I feel like an adult now. I’m talkin baby smooth. 🙏🏻

geofatboy , These are awesome. After my first weeper-free BBS, the only irritation is from faceturbating 😂. The next frontier is a BBS on the head. Will report back after the SOTN. ✌️

Great video sir. I wish I had seen this back in the early 2000s! Back then I tried a Merkur 34c and ended up throwing it in the garbage because I didn’t know that 2 passes & 1 against the grain were necessary…. I’m back in the DE razor shaving world now and your videos have made a tremendous difference and they are greatly appreciated! THANK YOU!

Thank you for this wonderful video on going against the grain. I have been scraping my skin for a long time when I shave against the grain to get baby smooth skin. Now I know to skim the skin, rather than scrape, and to go with the grain, across the grain, and finally skimming against the grain, and not scraping. Thank you for this simple instruction, man. Rock on!

I think the against-the-grain pass is where I've been going wrong, as my safety razor experience continues to absolutely suck. I've been doing the lay-flat-and-tilt technique against the grain, as well. I think I've been scraping the heck out of my face. Looking forward to doing it this way. I feel like this can still work...
