This is my new favourite band and what an awesome track this is. Please include on your set list for Glastonbury on June 24, I have my tickets and I know that will be the amazing gig you have ever played. Your English fans will be there in numbers and you will be huge on stage.

can someone please explain to me the timing of the beat for this song. I'm pretty sure I'm hearing it incorrectly in my head and its driving me crazy...

+Peter Bannor I think the time signature is either common time or cut time (4/4 or 2/2, respectively). I have to agree it's weird, but I'll see if I can make sense of my own jumbled thoughts. if you start counting at "Take it out on me", you hear a beat on "out". Start counting "1-2-3-4", with 1,2, and 3 being on "out", "on", and "me" respectively, and continue using that same steady beat throughout the song. Alternatively, you could just count 1-2-1-2 (starting on "out" still) instead of 1-2-3-4, which could make more sense and could be easier to match to the song. It seems a strange beat to keep but that's how my head keeps bobbing to the song.

Still trying to figure it out. It sounds like it's and odd and even note grouping (i.e. the meter changes every bar or so).
@purpleplus6788 жыл бұрын
ok, it's 5/4. the grouping is weird but that's it.

Purple's got it. It's in 5

I would say you get a measure of 4/4 followed by a measure of 6/4. 5/4 doesn't work for me because of accents. You could also argue that the song is in 10/4 or even 20/8 if you want to call it cut time. In the chorus, the words "lift" and "time" are both exactly on the 6th beat of the 6/4 measure, so that's what gave it away to me.
