The tone effect knobs for the rotary A/B is clutch because natural the YC has a harshness within the 2k htz range which I use a narrow EQ to tame it

The RD-2000 is also a great board. I think the difference is in the focus as the RD is really a piano players board and the YC covers a bit more ground as a stage keyboard and the organ sounds and control over them is much better on the YC series.

@@Featherlightstudio Agree re organ sounds. I guess that's to he expected with a dedicated organ engine. The RD has a ton of synth sounds, though, which is attractive. The problem is the board and its interface are ugly as hell compared to pretty much all competitors (IMO).

How does the key action of the wooden keys feel? Trying to decide if I want to upgrade from my s90xs.

@@wesford808 The key bed is really good if you are after a piano action. You just need to check out all the specs as this is a different beast from your s90xs..

@@wesford808 Compared to my s70xs, the YC88 is much more focused and tighter, very much like playing an actual C7X keybed. My s70xs feels sluggish by comparison. Not sure if the keybed is the same on both the s70xs and the s90xs. The actual weight and balance of the wood keys vs the artificial weight of the plastic weighted keys on the XS feels more natural and responsive to play. The sounds are very well matched to the keybed, the MIDI velocity response/tuning is definitely a step above most other boards I've played including my Moxf8 and the s70xs.

Hi. Can the yc do a split with right hand upper manual organ and left hand lower manual organ? With different drawbar settings for each? I like that setting for a band where I can set the lower to a soft comping tone and upper to a louder lead/stabs.

Yes, you can assign independently each Upper and lower drawbar section relative to your chosen spilt point. And you can include other engines in that mix ( upper on right-lower on left ) or ( upper on left-Keys A on right ) ect, as well as all the external Master zones.

Hi can the YC be used as a sound module in Cubase 12 for example, 16 midi in and 16 midi out so I can have different sounds on multiple tracks? Thank you Gr.Ness

While the YC can certainly be used as a sound module, it is not truly multitimbral, like the Motif series or external sound modules since its focus is on live performance.

Hello, If you can help me because I have the yc-88 and the layers of keys a and b you can, for example, turn on the strings and make a smooth transition, but if you need to make a smooth transition to turn off the b key of the strings, the yc-88 cuts the direct sound. Is there a way to configure this transition to only turn off when I stop stepping on sustain?

Instead of just switching off the hardware sound engine completely, you could assign the strings volume to the Mod lever and use that to bring them in and out. Or just create your next voice without strings, In both cases the sound will fade out seamlessly.

Choose a Bass sound for Keys engine A and set the Key Range. Choose the 'Layered Piano/Strings" Voice for Keys engine B and set the Key range.

Can you have three splits of internal sounds?

Kind of...You dont have 3 independent onboard split points like a workstation but, the keys A/B engines conform to the global split point. And the Organ engine has 2 parts ( Upper and Lower ) and those parts conform to the split point as well. So you could, for example, have Rhodes (Keys A) and Organ on the lower split point and only a lead synth part (Keys B) on the upper split point. However, the Master Keyboard functions (external keyboard control) are extensive and can have up to 4 independent Zones that can control anything.

Hey! So i am having issues with the layering function on my yc. If I try to turn on the Split B nothing happens . The sound library is also not changing . I can only play what’s already set on the live sets. I did try resetting the keyboard back to factory setting but it’s still doing the same thing . Any ideas?

Other than the obvious stuff ( Dirty Pots/Switch, make sure both engines are on and your Keys A/B button is on the right one) I would say check your External Keyboard Control setting. Settings/External Keyboard/Key B and make sure its not set to Ext Only. Other than that, Maybe check with your retailer about warranty options?

Thanks for a great vid! Does anyone know if it's possible to control volume for both engine A and B at the same time? Tried to use the mod wheel for this, but seems like it can only control one engine at a time..

You can use the Expression pedal to control both Keys A and B engine volume at the same time by going to Settings/Controllers/Receive SW/Expression/Keys A/B but looks like Mod Lever assigns only one controller choice. Love it if some one chimes in here with a workaround for the Mod Lever.

How do you determine the split point? You skipped over that.

@peacefulruler1 thank you for responding. I had the yc 73 and sold it because its simply not user friendly. I couldn't find enough videos that explained the things in detail , I wanted to know. I played yamaha for years but finally switched to the roland rd 88 which is very easy to understand and use on the fly and there are many videos demonstrating easy to understand examples of how to use the board.
