Hi - I'm noticing I can't make the connection between the pathfinder rotation in the value tab, and my shape's rotation. Any ideas why this might be the case?

Hello, thank you very much for sharing. I have a problem with the rectangle, the deformer doesn't work well, I just feel the rectangle is different from the pahtfinder. Do you know why it can be?

my shape is moving but not on the path, should it be aligned automatically or it needs manual adjusting?
@cavalryapp2 жыл бұрын
It should align so it sounds like you've got a position offset coming from somewhere. Make sure things like pivots are zeroed out. Also - be aware that you cannot Group this set up and then move the Group as that will create 'double transforms'.

@@cavalryapp HEY, I've got the same problem. as you said I checked pivots values, and they are zeroed out. after adding some value to the rectangle's pivot value (x= -477, y= -109) they got aligned to the path. But we know that's not the way to do that thing. waiting for your reply.

@@muji_kngr does this happen following the steps in this video using an arrow as Ian does?

@@muji_kngr so it sounds like there is an issue with the shape you're using. There are some options under the Shape menu to Bake/ Freeze/ Reset which may help zero out the transforms.

Such a pleasure this workflow! Quick question - After failing to deform an image along a path by using the "Add Divisions" to make-up for the lack of Edge Divisions, I tried to "trick" Cavalry into letting me deform an image along a path by putting an image shader on a rectangle with plenty of edge divisions but the various ways of fastening the image to the shape didn't quite do what I'd hoped for. I'm looking for more of a "piece of paper blowing in the wind" or a BAO BOA effect. Any tips?
@cavalryapp3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ian, sorry but you've hit an area we don't support as yet. There's no 'UVs' so shaders will not deform with shapes. Very much on the to-do list...

@@cavalryapp so the pathfinder deformer only work with shape ? what about shape create with pen tool, i tried draw a random shape and add divisions or subdivide and it not work, the shape not deform with the path
@cavalryapp3 ай бұрын
@@psclip3309 1. Draw a closed (must be closed) Shape with the Pen. 2. Add a Pathfinder as a Deformer. 3. Add another Path to the Pathfinder's Input Shape.

You connect the entire color array to the fill.Color parameter. Can you explain what connecting an entire "Attribute" means, technically? Are we connecting the id of the color array to the fill.Color property, and fill.Color just knows how to distribute itself? I'm having trouble marrying the concept of "connections" (one value driving another value of the same type) with what you've done here.
@cavalryapp2 жыл бұрын
In this case, the arrow shape is the Input Shape to the Duplicator. By connecting the Color Array to the arrow shape's Fill Color, the Duplicator can then 'pull' each of the colors from the Array and assign them to each of the duplicates. Hard to fully explain in a comment here (!) but here's an article that gives some more detail on the concept - docs.cavalry.scenegroup.co/getting-started/key-concepts/context

If I move the travel, it works. But not if I let the animation run. Anyone an idea why?

What about more complex shapes? I made a shape with other shapes and while I got it to follow the path, it goes from its center and not the bottom. Any tips?
@cavalryapp Жыл бұрын
That will depend on the pivot point. You can either change the pivot point, use the Align Deformer to set a pivot procedurally or Group the shape and then use the Group with the Pathfinder (and move the shape inside the Group).
