Thanks to this video for bringing old photography memories while I was studying in Photography & Photo Journalism at Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts (CAVA) college at Mysore, Karnataka, India. I had been using (still lying with me) Minolta SRT 100 body. Then upgraded to Minolta X-300s followed with Nikon F80s and now using Nikon Z6.

I just acquired an SRT 201. What kind of battery do I need because there was no battery in the camera thank you. I loved the video.
@julesvuottosphotofocus46963 ай бұрын
Originally it took a 1.35volt mercury battery. They are no longer made. A 1.35 volt Wein zinc air cell will work, but it has a short life. someone once said to use a 1.55 volt S625PX silver oxide battery. If you go that route I would check the meter reading against a known accurate meter. You can even check it against a cell phone meter app. Thanks for watching.

I have just acquired the SRT 201 but looks to be the older model since mine has the CLC in the front. I know the batteries originally used are no longer in the market and I can get a replacement or upgrade to take another type My question is: the battery is only needed for the light meter correct? I could use this camera manually with no batteries and hope for the best with focusing correct?
@julesvuottosphotofocus469623 күн бұрын
@@tiffanywinchester494 Correct, the battery is only needed for the light meter. Use the split image spot in the center of the viewfinder for focusing. It much easier to achieve focus using it than the outer area. Thanks for watching.

Simple, reliable and efficient. I was not aware of this clc light exposure mechanism. It s a pity they lost le mirror lock vs srt101 which can be useful. I would prefer the Ftb but Minolta got good optics.

Very similar. The 102 has CLC metering and aperture visible in the viewfinder, that the 201 doesn’t have.

Hello Jules. Thank you for the excellent tutorial. I recently purchased a 201. My problem is the film advance lever will not move freely. If I press on the shutter button, the arm will move correctly. Also, I am not getting any shutter click when pressing the button. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@julesvuottosphotofocus46962 жыл бұрын
Hi James, thank you for your question. I don’t know what that can be. It sounds like the advance lever is not cocking the shutter. Do a Google or KZbin search for your problem. Let me know what you find out. Good luck.

@julesvuottosphotofocus4696 Жыл бұрын
The frame counter on the camera is additive. It shows how many images you have shot, so if it indicates 20 and you are shooting on a 36 exposure roll you have 16 frames left.
@alantorres6949 Жыл бұрын
@@julesvuottosphotofocus4696 does that automatically reset or do you have to somehow wind it back to 0 manually when loading in a new roll?
@julesvuottosphotofocus4696 Жыл бұрын
@@alantorres6949 when you open the camera back it resets. Try it without film. Fire off a few shots without film look at the frame counter then open the back. The counter should reset below zero.
