Great video. My parents gave me this for my 16th b-day in 75. I was going to a lot of rock shows back then and it served me so well. It was such a great camera to learn with. Changing lenses in the dark was a lot of fun. Your drawing of the light meter reading is spot on.

Thank you for this video Jules, this was extremely useful for me and got this camera working again. I am awful with cameras and there was no picture through the view finder no matter what I tried, nor would that arm move. But no longer after watching this video!! My dad recently passed away and I vowed to keep using his camera from his past again; he always had it for many decades and loved taking pictures of the family. He moved on to different cameras, in the end mostly using his smartphone haha. But this camera always had a special spot for me as a kid, and you helped allow me make even more memories with it going forwards. Thanks again Jules!

How did you fix the black viewfinder? I keep having this after a couple of shots in this camera

@@Adyy0001 It sounds like the mirror is not dropping back down after you take the photo. The shutter mechanism may need a drop of oil. See if you can find a video on KZbin on lubricating the shutter.

Hi! I bought this camera in an antique shop in Austria this summer. It was already an old film inside it, so I tried to snap a few pictures with the film that was left. I watched several tutorials 11:57 , but my camera doesn’t have the green LED in the viewfinder. I thought it was the battery, so I ordered some new ones and got some help from a photo shop in Oslo. Now that I got the new batteries the green LEDs still doesn’t show up in the viewfinder🙃 is there anything I can do? Is the camera broken? Or what should I do?😅 Hope you got some tips!

@@11amalie22 The meter is probably dead. Not unusual for a camera that old. You can still take pictures with it. Download a light meter app for you smartphone. They work very well and some are free. Thanks for watching my video.

Is it possible you are at the end of the roll? If that's the case you will need to push in the button on the bottom of the camera and rewind the film. Is the self timer stuck? If so trying pushing it back to the upright position.

Sounds like the mirror is locked in the up position. Remove the lens, to see if the mirror is visible.
