Features of the new VIAIR 400-RVS RV Air Compressor for Class C Motorhomes and Large Towables

Hi Eric. I bought my 400 awhile back from you and also bought the winterization kit. Just went out to figure out how to use the winterization kit and have a couple of comments that might help other users. First of all, the directions left out a couple of important steps. The regulator is adjusted by first pulling the adjustment knob out, then turning it to reach the desired PSI, then you can push the regulator adjustment knob back in. I couldn't figure out why the PSI wasn't adjusting properly so that was the solution. Secondly, the regulator has an arrow on the side so you can connect the fittings correctly with the airflow going from the compressor to the city water inlet on the RV. Without knowing the arrow was there, it is very easy to connect the fittings on the wrong side. Ask me how I know. So just a couple of tips that would help if you every do a winterization kit video. Again, the instructions were lacking on that part of the regulator connections and adjustments. Thanks and I really do love my VIAIR 400.

How long would the 400-RV-S take to a bring an 80psi Class C RV tire from 70 psi to 80 psi with engine running and connected to RV or starting battery assuming 13.8 volts and good batteries?

HI Gary, Viair states that inflating a tire from 70-80 psi would take 1 min and 15 sec (+/- 10 sec).

I just purchased the 400 RVS model. Do I need to put a fuse when I direct wire to the battery? Do you offer a military discount? I love your products and look forward to buying more.

Hi Stephen, Yes, you would put a fuse inline. You could use the existing cables for this with the fuse included, but if you modify the cable then it will void your warranty. I hope this helps. Eric

Getting ready to buy one of these on your website. I already have a winterization blow out kit. Assume I can use that kit? Also will a water PSI regulator work when you use the viaair?

Hey Joseph, if you have the VIAIR winter kit then yes that will work with the VIAIR 400 kit. I am not sure about the water regulator, I would probably not trust that and stick with the recommended winter kit from VIAIR. I hope this helps. Eric

BTW- you should have a rep on the Entegra clas C and A Facebook forum. We just had a thread that myself and several other peeps recommended Viaair. Just wanted to confirm this unit also has the auto-shut off feature? So If I am going between tires or even checking the PSI on the tire I am inflating, i don't need to keep going to the compressor to shut off to get an accurate reading. It will auto turn on and off by mere pull of the inflator trigger? Can you confirm, that sounds like a very convenient feature that would make me move from the 300p-rvs to the 400p-rvs

Hi Elvis, Yes, you are correct, on the 400 you get the gas station style trigger/gauge, and each time you release the trigger it gives you the PSI reading. You do not need to go back and forth and turn off the unit. You will also love the 40 inch extension from the trigger to the valve stem which allows you to stand while airing up. I hope this helps. Can you hook up your inside dual connection with the gun and fill the tires? or do you have to disconnect the dual extender pressure check and then connect the extender hose to fill it?

If you are to check the tire pressure through the extended, then you should be able to fill the tire through it as well. If I misunderstood your question, please let me know.

Hi Fred, The RVS is the newest model and the Rv is the old model. The RVS added a 40 inch chuck to the air gun that allows you more flexibility to stand up while airing up your tires. Otherwise you have to stay down at the valve stem which can be tiring and annoying. The new unit has a upgraded bag as well. There is no reason to get the older unit, the newer unit is the better one to get. I hope this helps.
