I never knew what happened to Colt McCoy getting injured after that running play. If Colt played, I thought the game would have been a lot more competitive. At the beginning of the game, both Alabama and Texas appeared to be very evenly matched. Injuries are part of the game, but I was surprised at the injury, but I understand a bit that McCoy was anticipated to be drafted high in the NFL draft that year. I anticipated this game as showing the two best teams that year on display. Like what Alabama and Clemson showed us during their first two times they played against each other a few years ago.

@dantemike1 There may be a lot of truth to what you stated. Like I said, Texas looked pretty good against Alabama early in the game. But I will say this, Alabama was favored to win that game. As a fan, I was a bit disappointed when Colt McCoy left the game due to injury. But I totally understood the decision because of his high NFL prospects. I simply was a spoiled fan and wanted to see a classic good game. The Texas backup QB did the best job possible in that situation. But the guy was getting eaten alive by that Alabama defense. I gave Texas credit for making the game close late in the game. But Alabama had too much firepower.

Colt McCoy can swing his arm on his way out and pretend he can not move it at all in the second half. Then he "recovers" totally at the combine. For those whinners say Colt could have won the game for horns. If he were there, Tide could win by 30.

Richard Lee UT shouldn’t have even played in this game. TCU beat more ranked teams, beat better ranked teams, and beat ranked teams by a wider margin. Also had a better offense and defense than UC, UT and Alabama, yet was mysteriously ranked behind all three of them

@@marktastic86 False. TCU was #1 with 239.2 YAPG, Alabama was #2 with 244.1 YAPG, UT was #3 with 251.9 YAPG. It appears you’re evaluating based on points, which isn’t necessarily a good indication of defensive performance. Even if you do use this metric, TCU was better than UT, so I’m not sure how that disputes the point of my argument that TCU should have played in the game over UT.

@@brian2440 I don't really care. I'm going off of the Sports-Reference. com website and their results for TEAM DEFENSE for the 2009 season. It doesn't matter to me who Bama played, only that they won.

@@marktastic86 My point was that TCU was through and through a better team than UT, yet didn’t go the championship. They had a better offense, a better defense, beat more ranked teams, beat better ranked teams, beat ranked teams by a larger margin than UT. I’m pretty sure that checks just about every conceivable box for selection to the national title yet for some unexplained reason didn’t make it. I’m my opinion TCU would have performed better than UT against Alabama. Alabama would still be favored, but I honestly wouldn’t bet against TCU. *It was never explained although the reasoning was clearly because TCU played in the MWC. Never mind the fact that the MWC had multiple teams ranked in the Top 15, or that the MWC champion was undefeated in major bowls up that point including a 31-14 beat down of Alabama in 2008. Never mind the fact the conference had the best record in bowls 7 out of 10 years from 2000-2010. The league was so scared of that conference that they changed the rules for bowl selection of at large teams in 2009 to force TCU to play Boise State instead of the 2nd highest ranked At large team that would have been Cincinnati.
