The preacher at my church preached a very similar message this morning. He was in John chapter 3. He also used the scripture in Numbers about the serpent on the pole. I guess God was confirming this message.

I pray for a non-believer that I know; when I witness to him with the Holy Scriptures - all I get is a bunch of defense for other false religions, it is SO discouraging - I hesitate to witness to him any more - recognizing that I am casting my pearls b4 swine! - been going on for years.

What if the cross were not displayed in any house of worship ...that thought came to me as I agreed with many that all churches do not have to have a cross on the building or behind the altar. Some people i know actually think it is macabre and shows the most terrible moment in Christ in history. I noticed some churches have a beautiful mural instead which i found uplifting. BUT staring at that cross often with a bloody visage of Christ hanging upon it makes a statement in my soul that little else can and I thought...what if there were no crucifixes anywhere. The Word it is the real power but a picture tells a thousand words and as much as it is good that the Cross is not in every building and we learn the Word and maybe see a picture of Jesus with his Apostles instead of his crucifixion. Maybe it's just me but standing below that Cross looking up I feel the weight of the wood. Seeing that Cross with our worldly physical eyes in a way they cannot deny what they are witnessing I feel has saved many that may not have listened. In short, it is Not necessary all buildings have crosses, better there are different expressions with the same Word. But imagine the cross was not shown anywhere ever...I think that would be a mistake too. Because that cross tells the world the whole story instantly whether they want to hear it or not.
