Wow, Your decor just floors me. You are so lucky to be near stores that offer vintage and older items so cheap. Where I live, it's just about cheaper to buy on ebay or etsy. Your lovely style of decorating for Valentine's day is a goal for me. Locally, I'm going to start buying things that fit in well with color and theme even if they're not vintage because I'll just never get a collection complete otherwise. As I find the real things I can always swap out. Thank you again for being so generous to share your home with us.

Peggy great score on all the strawberry McCoy pieces 🥰🍓 The milk glass dishes with the strawberries/cherries in them was beautiful I’ve tried hard looking for those strawberry wrapped hard candies (my grandma would always have them in her purse and give to us kids) but have yet to find them in my area. Hi Peggy Lou and Norm🤗💕 Everything was beautiful and flawlessly filmed as usual. I loved hearing about your brother the Pyrex collector! How wonderful. I loved all the little details in this video. Two things caught my eye that I'm not sure you mentioned. There was a red pressed glass heart (toothpick holder?) on the shelf with the Pyrex along with another pressed glass piece that was simply darling. I also must say, I will have my eye out for the drippings jar you have by your stove. I would love to know who made it (the one that looks like a fridgie dish🥰). Wow, my husband and I started working at "Micro Switch" Freeport IL after high school. Later Micro Switch was rebranded Honeywell.and we continued working in various engineering depts as newlyweds. I left as secretary to raise a family, but my husband stayed until he retired as an Engineering Supervisor. Don't remember a store, but still have "Winning Edge" tchtokes that were given out as promotions.

It's fun for Norm and I to read comments like yours and love finding out our pasts are similar. I was also a secretary my entire working years. I don't remember what all I said in the video, probably not much, but I worked for Honeywell's Underseas Systems Division in Hopkins, MN starting in 1985 to 2000. But, shortly after starting with Honeywell, they decided to spin off that division and it became Alliant Techsystems, Inc. (ATK). I wonder if your hubby ever heard of them. They changed a couple more times since I've been retired. I believe next was Orbital ATK. They were working more on the space program with rocket engines? I haven't followed much, but just care that I still get my retirement check each month ;-) I believe they are now part of Northrup Grumman. My job was very stressful all the time working on government military programs. The preparation of proposals was terribly difficult under a time crunch and all the management was crabby. Maybe your husband knows all about that too?? Have you ever heard about the MK46 and MK50 torpedoes for the Navy? (from the web: The MK 50 torpedo is a highly capable undersea weapon for U.S. Navy surface ships and aircraft. Developed to replace the MK 46 torpedo, it was first authorized for Fleet use in October 1992. The MK 50 is designed to counter the fast, deep-diving, double-hulled nuclear submarine threat.) I worked for all the hardware and software engineers on that program. Then later on an unmanned aircraft program--we didn't win that one, but it was interesting. The final group I was working for was a program called, SADARM (Sense and Destroy Armor) for the Army. I know that's a lot of crazy information, but just thought you or your husband might have heard of some of that. We also have two other divisions here in the Minneapolis area, like the Residential Division and Aerospace not far from us. So my employers, Honeywell and ATK were fast paced and stressful, but very interesting and I do appreciate the experience. Well, I hope you are not bored to death ;-) but just curious if your employer supplied parts for any of those programs. We supplied switches to aircraft manufacturers, submarine manufacturers, rocket manufacturers. and even lunar landers here....of course specifics cannot be disclosed, lol. I mostly stayed in the keyboard/customer service departments. I even did a short stint in the Patent Dept. That was interesting!

Hi Kathryn! Thank you very much for watching this video and writing to me. I don't worry about damaging milk glass even in my dishwasher, but I do use the best tablets by Finish called Quantum. Even the next step down, Finish Max in 1, is supposed to protect glass from etching. Since we do use vintage glassware tumblers everyday, I need that protection that I do not see on any other dishwasher tablets. The back of Finish packages show the degrees of protection on a chart. Maybe you are familiar with that. I found that 50's smaller tumblers still do not stand up to this detergent. But if I buy/use 60's/70's glassware, they seem to have a better paint on them. But when I buy an old piece of milk glass, it is often kind of dirty so I run it through the dishwasher typically (especially if it looks a little yellowed from hard water). I don't find much need to rewash them after that, because I'm typically just displaying them and only need to dust them. I probably would still not mind using the dishwasher again however. Regarding old milk glass pieces (typically plates) that have leftover paint still on them. I tried using Efferdent denture cleaning tablets to clean them because I read about that tip. It helps to whiten milk glass, but smells terribly strong and you need to use a fan vent hood. I didn't think it helped to remove paint residual stains. So I finally thought of using paint thinner and it worked using it with a toothbrush. I hope all that helps since I wasn't sure of what type of milk glass you have or any type of stain problem. Regarding the gingham check red glasses, I purchased the same glasses new in 1976 in 3 different colors: red like yours as well as brown and yellow (which was my kitchen color scheme at the time :) Unfortunatlely most got broken with my young children at the time and I ended up donating all the leftovers in the 90s at Goodwill.
