They seemed to personify Age, Night and Silence.
"Piecemeal" by Oscar Cook (1930)
He slipped in a pool of blood that had dripped from the severed head.
"The Mist-Monster" by Granville S. Hoss (1928)
A weird mist billowed up from the cave-and horrible was the thing that it did.
"Tzo-Lin’s Nightingales" by Ben Belitt (1931)
It was an unostentatious little Chinese shop, yet it was the scene of an incredible madness and a weird horror.

I'm such a crazy old cat lady ..I actually have a very "retro 70s".. scimitar..but not the Pegasus in Space! Or the dusky woman print..but I know someone who has both those points..you'd think Renoir had painted them as she keeps them spotless! I always tease her about them being a prize on the conveyor belt that passes in front of the winners eyes on "the generation game"..did "nice to see you.. to see you".. Bruce's catchphrase? So I will occasionally ask if when they passed in front of the sliding doors..did the voice over say "a piece of modern art.. fondue set"? Well my Scimitar is a real one..& if only she'd not gone on that game show..she could have won Bully's Star Prize..& be speedboating around on the Leeds /Liverpool Canal & playing darts in the many pubs that are close by? She'd ask me "what the hell would I do with a speedboat"..fair point as not many darts players have a marina close by..& mebe don't know wtf..a Marina is! Like me..none of them attend Cowes Week! If I did I expect I'd be slung out of the marina bar..for my northern accent would offend those socialite gatherings..seems to me that the Boats are not the true reason they attend Cowes Week & for good reason..as they are as p*ssed as newts! Wouldn't want them sinking whilst trying to remember the words to an old sea shanty.."was on the good ship Venus..good gawd you should've seen us.. the figure head..was a whore in bed & the mast a rampant..."..I forget that line but the chorus is all about "the rigging"..dunno if you've heard that song before..or if it's one I made up.."squiffy"? No...t Yet! But none of that changes the fact that I have a scimitar..but I need a new e-string for it..or mebe I am..squiffy as trying to get a guitar string on my sword..is giving me a lotta bother! I go now rite? Reet! Aye sithee!😇 LnPs! See! I'm an Angel..Yes waay! 🤙sorry! xx

Btw..she didn't win them..she bought them from the local Co-op! I still remember the co-op share number you gave every time you bought eomething..& depending on how much you spent..the bigger the annual divvy! It wasn't mine..im old but not that old..just as I was dragged along with my old boot's (RIP Ma!) But I've never forgotten it! Damnit! I stopped to loot for 2 seconds and of course, Warren gets one shot right outside the boss arena. I said to him, "most monsters do physical and chaos damage so you might want to invest in your resistances. Defense is the best defense after all." Typical Warren, my words fell on deaf ears. He seemed so confident right before he face tanked that "Die" beam. Ohh well, I payed for 6 portals and by jove I will use all 6. Please enjoy today's "Warrenism". This time I went with a Path of Exile theme as a vehicle in which to couch the jokes. You keep giving me things to enjoy so I feel compelled to reciprocate the best I can.
