For sure! I am tired of these snowless "winters" we have had the past couple of years. It is SUPPOSED to snow in Wisconsin...NOT FLORIDA!. As to the forecast? Promises, promises. Heard it all before and it always fizzles out. Besides, my snowmobiles are already put away for the year. I have given up on this "winter". BUT! If I am wrong, I will buy a beer for everyone in the local snowmobile club...and I don't even drink. So yeah, bring it on.

@ I LOVE the winter. I like it because it brings the world to its knees. Everyone HAS to slow down, I get to visit with the neighbours again as they emerge from hibernation to shovel sidewalks and driveways, all sounds outside are deadened, and the beauty of snow-covered everything is heart-warming. I get tired of people telling me “I don’t like to be cold”! My answer….”NO ONE likes to be cold. Not even the Inuit in the Arctic LIKE to be cold….so they dress for the weather”. I don’t like the heat. You can only take so many clothes off until you get fined 🤣 I can keep piling clothes on until I’m warm.

@@davebabbitt2432 Same here. There is just something about a wide open snowscape that makes me feel good. I am a winter lover at heart. I like being out in it, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, even walking, and (of course) snowmobiling. I love it all. As to people slowing down in the snow? Not around here. Everybody seems to think that because they have a "big bad" four wheel drive that they are invulnerable. Ironically, I see more 4X4's in ditches than anything else. For the record, Yes I do have a "big bad" Z71 4X4. But also know its limitations, and more importantly MY limitations.) Anyway, I will get off my soapbox now, LOL. At the end of the day, I really don't mind the cold, as long as I have something to do out in it. And of course, while I love the snow and cold, I do dress for it. That's especially important on the snowmobile...just in case... These snowless "winters" have me hunkering down in the house instead of being outside. Bare, dead ground just takes away any ambition I may have to get out of the house. Since snowmobiling is out of the picture again this year, I have been considering doing a little winter camping in my truck this year. I guess that would be one way to get out of the house and do something. The one advantage of snowless winters is that I wouldn't have to worry about getting stuck.😅 Oops. Looks like I wrote you a little novelette here, LOL. Must be the writer in me or something.

This month I've traveled all over the country, Colorado, Memphis, Phoenix and in-between, and it has been cold everywhere. I even had a dead battery in Memphis @ 12°F. Thank Goat for the amazon battery brick to make jumping a cold battery easy.

The only snow we had, he completed the job in less than 35 minutes and is back in his nice shed. I swear I think he laughed at me when I walked away. Bring on the snow.

Good day POW. I heard a well known brand weather station say some people brought them some upset reports that YT meteorologist were giving out erroneous info during first snow storm and ice cold pack behind it. I personally rely on your detailed weather reports that are oftentimes 7 days out and have not gone wrong about being very prepared. I cannot say that about others. Some very critical weather reports were almost right at the onset of getting hit. Just ridiculous. I rather you work it out and predict what may come than what may not. Or have to wait on a gang of weather experts to give the okay about not scaring the public but leaving us unprepared. Thanks for being here. Not everyone is a weather geek and wants to know detailed forecasts or predictions. They just want the bottom line and it's okay. But don't mess with those who are willing to do the work.😊

This forecast doesn't really include much that's noteworthy for the eastern half of the country, so no real need to. I'm in northwest Arkansas, and the forecast for the next couple of weeks is actually pretty dull. A slight warm-up for January, really, with lots of partly cloudy and only one or two days of possible rain. People lose interest if that's the forecast you focus on.

Unfortunately for the Ohio Valley and Interior NE (Sw Pa) will not get any Snow! Likely just rain IF anything! The temps and warmer air from thr south will just be too much as the cold front passes. The higher elevations and mountains could see the snowy side as well as the northern part of the Systems moving through. But all in all DO NOT take the EURO OR GFS MODELS snowfall total maps or even their MODELS for potential snow bc they are geared to HYPE UP the snow/cold -NARRATIVE. So aggressive and slowly they back off but only the hours prior to the storm moving through.. its almost comical anymore!

What is a "cutoff low"?

A cut off low is when the low pressure gets disconnected from the main jet stream. They can be very slow mover or become stationary lasting longer than a typical system. They likely overperform with precipitation in the form of rain or snow because of the very slow movement with them.
