Maximize employment double speak for forcing Americans into jobs they don’t want or can’t afford to take since inflation has outgrown earnings for employees.

They should have gone to 50 basis points. A 25 basis point increase only raises hopes the the stock market will try to rally which makes inflation harder to control. Everything went up, because regardless of whether inflation drops or not, the investment markets will try to pump.

How does U.S. debt compare to that of other countries? The United States’ debt-to-GDP ratio is among the highest in the developed world. Among other major industrialized countries, the United States is behind only Japan.

My question is how long will employment rate remain high. What happens with rising interest rates to bring down inflation, and how about the cost (debt) of the all money that's been printed that we seem to have forgotten. For those in the stock market, S&P seems high under current market conditions. If not for inflation, I wonder if economic crisis is still coming at some point and general market correction.

Not enough workers, Covid killed, retired and pushed out many. We won’t recover in the job market until employers pay people more, treat employees like gold, and rates remain high for a while to balance depressing earnings to a point. The general not the granular

Why is Jerome Powell still working? His primary job is to keep inflation at 2% and he failed big time. If an average person does this in an average job they would be fired.
@CreateYourWorth

Ummm. you do know that AVERAGE 2% inflation spread out over many years, right? Not just year over year 2%. Sometimes it will be 7%. sometimes will be 1% inflation, but average they want 2.5%...................................

@@CreateYourWorth When you have such high inflation it will not go down in a year so there will be multiple years that have high inflation which means that the average year over year will be much higher than their target.

I find it shocking that nobody is factoring wage inflation correction across companies in various sectors. The salary corrections have not even started yet and earnings are starting to decline so imagine what happens when salary corrections go into effect. Wage inflation will never be transitory which is why you don't see companies offer salaries observed 20 years ago.

What happens to the already inflated prices, will they go down ever? Or will there be less upside from here on? If prices does not go down, I am 5% poor this year when compared to the last year because I only got 3% hike for the services I provided to the society - as usual, Fed is not taking seriously to control the inflation. I wish to see a bigger rate hike to bring the inflation down as soon as possible even if means a short term recession. Obviously 2% inflation is not possible till 2025 at this rate.

I am 45 years old with very little set aside for retirement at this point. I have always been curious about the stock market and have witnessed some people who played the game right and retired early because they used the stock market. When I ask them, most said that they invested very little to start with, but their portfolio grew. I do have a significant amount of capital that is required to start up but I have no idea what strategies and direction I need to approach to help me make decent returns

When it comes to making such big retirement planning decision, It is of paramount importance to seek advise from a financial coach, I got in touch with an investment broker and through her guidance I made enough passive income to sustain me during the pandemic when I got laid off and I've decided to stop working entirely, I'm currently living off my investments which brings in about 700k in annual profits. I’d suggest you go with a broker

CPI-U from June to Dec has increased only 0.13%. In other words, inflation is at 0.13% over the last 6 months. Over the last 12 months, inflation is at 6.5%, but over the last 6 months, inflation is at a mere 0.13%. This is CPI-U of course, not PCE or Core PCE that Powell is focused on. But still, one has to wonder, 0.13% over the last 6 months is well below 2% target. Even Powell admits there is a lag from rate hikes to impact on inflation, so what, are we going below 0.13% as that lag catches up? Entirely too much focus on 12 month inflation, as you can't see where inflation actually stopped, which was June.
