If you enjoy what you do and make a profit, then I am not sure how it “sucks the life out of you”. I enjoy finding the same things you do. Sometimes I make big profits, other times smaller, but I profit. I spend enough time each week to source and list. It’s relaxing to me because my 9-5 job is stressful. Reselling is fun. I am always looking for new things to sell and learn about. That is how I got into comics and I have done good with them. Also, now I am an avid collector and reader as well. 😊 eBay isn’t my full time income. It’s my Funtime income. It pays for itself and it gives my wife and I something to have in common and work on. If you are full time on eBay and it’s sucking the life out of you, well you need to figure out something different. Thanks Rod. Great video and picks on this. I saw a few things that I will be looking for now as well.

I'm tired of eBay as well 😂 but I love the journey and the hunt so much eBay is almost non-existent when I'm out there thrifting.I wake up extra early on my days off get a good work out in wash my car open the sunroof blast my music and just enjoy the hunt, especially when my girl doesn't come 😂😂😂😂. When i just found a bose wave radio cd player for 10 bucks and it literally just sold for me this morning for 120 😮 definitely makes me reconsider thinking negative about ebay 😂😂😂
@pickingandpunchingАй бұрын
Ebay has there issues. I will be the first one to admitted it. I will say it is also one of the greatest sites ever. It allows us to do what we love and make some good money from it.

I was a sports stuff guy, then ventured into jewelry especially the costume jewelry. If you go for the vintage marked stuff like Trifari, Manet, Brighton, Gerry's etc you can do well. Of course, any jewelry maker sterling, 925 or 10k/14k works too.

Jewlery and vintage obsolete official badges are great niches due to the size and some have great value . Just saw two badges sell for 1,600 on ebay and I just sold one for 300 and two for 150 each . you need a magnifying glass to read the brands clear and look out for brooches as well 🤑🤑. Best bet is looking at sold comps from high to low and getting familiar with the top brands and styles 💪 in this job knowledge is power to keep on picking and punching 👊 😅
@pickingandpunchingАй бұрын
100% you need to keep learning. Knowledge is power. Thanks for the obsolete tip.

Rod is dabbling in jewelry just as I got into it?! To be honest I'm surprised you didn't start sooner. Honestly I used to skip over jewelry because it takes so much time to look at that could be used at other sales. What's great is I don't even have to look it up or list it if I get a good enough price I can just sell it for melt price to local shops for instant turn around. So far I have found silver and gold filled stuff, but all it takes is one gold ring or necklace to get the time spent back. And honestly the silver I do find pays for the time itself, a few bucks of silver here and there adds up quick.
@pickingandpunchingАй бұрын
It’s from picking with other pickers that got me into it. One of the pickers found a couple of hundreds of dollar in jewelry when I had a crappy day. That jewelry could have been mine because I saw it first. I passed on it because I didn’t know anything about it.
@TheFriskySquidАй бұрын
@@pickingandpunching We all miss stuff. I see toys and jewelry a good amount but they are two vast areas that I need to learn about. That and sports cards. So many niches I walk by just because I know nothing about them.

She ain't wrong eBay do suck the life out of you with their fees and throw postage into the mix and it makes it hard to sell anything.
@fabulousfinds1045Ай бұрын
Ebay only sucks if you sell smalls! I cant understand how people sell low profit margin items like a $10 hat or a $12 vase....HELL...all the time it takes to list, take pics, wrap, and ship ....YOU'RE LOOSING MONEY!! Its so stupid!!! I make a great living on ebay - my "average item sold" is $69! My profit margins are huge. The problem is you watch these idiotic youtubers that just film to get subscribers like part time picker and so many others!
@pickingandpunchingАй бұрын
I understand that everyone hates paying selling fees. It would cost us twice of much if we had to bring that traffic to our own site. Unfortunately, eBay fees are one of those evils we have to deal with.

You need to bring a magnifier with you to check for marks like makers marks, 925, 14kt etc. as the marks can be tiny. You should also get a gold and silver test kit. Find a pawn shop that has a metal analyzer machine that can tell you the exact metals percentages (gold, silver, etc) in your jewelry finds. There is a pawn shop near me that does the tests for free.

Magnet does not tell you much, not worth putting trust in it. Old Platinum for instance. Marks mean nothing, you can test, at a cost of digging deep enough to make sure you are through any plating. Time and knowledge like all categories. If I can tell you one thing never trust and marked jewelry, unless 100% familiar. ✌🏻💚

What do you mean sell for free? eBay removed selling fees for Germany 2023 and UK recently. They did not remove selling fees for US sellers.
