Ma’am, I’m putting serious consideration into becoming a Gov Contractor as a small business. Now, currently I carry a Secret and have been a network engineer for a near decade. I also was born deaf in my left ear and hard of hearing in my right. So I am registered as disabled under the ADA. In part of this process I am learning, in part by you. Thanks to previous videos you have created. But my question, if you could be so kind to help. Is there a certification eligible for a civilian disabled small business? Also, have you or those around your circle been awarded IT contracts? I haven’t come across tutorials in that service yet here on YT. Thank you!VR

My husband and I started a company years ago and we tried to apply for WOSB in 2021 because we set the business up as equal partners however we have since changed the Articles of Organization to reflect I now own 51% but the old application is still showing him as owner and when I tried to reapply as me as owner I couldn't update it. What do I need to do?

Hello! I can't seem to find the answer to this question. I'm hoping you can help! What is the best way to structure our LLC if we have a Woman Disabled Veteran and two Male Disabled Veterans. Would it be better to have the woman as the CEO or one of the men? All are disabled vets, but I'm guessing the woman designation will allow us to access more contracts? We are new so we won't qualify for 8a yet. Your content is amazing, thank you for putting all the time in to help all of us:)
@FedAccess2 жыл бұрын
The 8(a) certification is the real prize, so first, I would think about whether you want to structure the company in a way to qualify for 8(a) certification. Even though you won't be applying for 8(a) certification now, how you structure the company today will affect your certification in the future. I would start by learning all the details on 8(a) certification. You can read the 8(a) regulations online, at the SBA website. You could also sit down with a PTAC counselor and ask them to go over all the details on the requirements for 8(a) certification. There are also some law firms that specialize in this.

@FedAccess9 ай бұрын
Congratulations for 23 years in business! 8(a) is a great program and it sounds like you would do great in that program. Yes, one person must be majority owner. You can read the actual rules for yourself at the SBA website. There are law firms that specialize in government contracting, it might be worth reaching out to one of them for advice.

Hello FedAccess I want to ask if a permanent resident can bid/apply for government contracts or is it only citizens that can bid for government contracts?

It depends on the contract. The solicitation will tell you. There are some contracts that require that the company be owned by citizens, others do not. Yes, you can register your company in SAM.gov. but I think the best approach is to start building relationships with the people in your area who make purchases, and then ask them how they make purchases. Ask them about upcoming opportunities and ask them what contracting procedures they use.
