Background
The purpose of the Safe Streets and Roads for All grant program is to improve roadway safety by significantly reducing or eliminating roadway fatalities and serious injuries for all users including pedestrians, bicyclists, public transit users, motorists and more. The program assists communities with the tools to develop evidence-based safety countermeasures.
This item is to accept the terms of the agreement with the FHWA. There will be a separate item to encumber funds for this reimbursement grant, and funds will be budgeted in the out years. In addition to the studies, several locations will be selected for safety demonstration pilot projects consisting of installation of temporary bollards to change the flow of traffic.
