This is a Federal Signal 500SHTT in Topeka, Kansas. It has since been removed as it was not functioning well anymore and replacement parts could not be found.

Sucks these are gone. These things were really awesome and good sirens, aside from their rotator issues.

@@BeaverStateOWS well they aren’t long gone, they got given to another nearby town in Kansas!

7367Network: my very first siren video I've ever watched was also made by Dylan (jayhawk29). It was a 2001 siren video that has the comments disabled and was made in 2007 i think.

As of 2021 , Abilene Ks has the best 10/12 500s, Topeka only has one 500 left and it’s barely functional.

I looked and found out that there were actually 6 federal signal 500s installed in Topeka. 3 were replaced a long time ago, but the other 3 were at taco tico, one you see in this vid is at Scott magnet, then the other is still standing on top of the veteren's hospital but does not sound. That's all I know. ;)

In Harrison, IL one of the Thunderbolt 1000s are actually from Topeka, right next to Murphysboro IL, I recorded an SD-10 from Murphysboro, they do Alert and fast wail. It's in the southern illinois area, which I am from.

@@PeeFifteen that’s really cool to know! It makes me feel a lot better they didn’t just scrap them and gave them to other towns that needed them. I’m pretty sure that Topeka sold their 500s to another nearby Kansas town, it’s been years since I got that info so I don’t remember the exact town. But if I find it I’ll edit this comment.

@carexpertandy On some of my siren videos I had music intros in the beginning, and I'm in the process of taking those down, removing the audio and putting them back up so I don't have my audio muted out.

Wait it is the one by Scott magnet..... OMG I never knew it was taken down! :(

It sounds very much like an 10/12 port Allertor.

they have the same chopper assembly which federal signal shared with ACA
@xtramayo37272 жыл бұрын
@@dank980 federal signal didn’t ever share that 10/12 design with ACA , Biersach and Nedermyer , cofounders of ACA were the first ones to invent a combined 10/12 chopper, and they put those in the mobile directos in WW2 all the way till the late 1960s. Federal signal had designed there own combined 10/12 port chopper that they only put in the 500-SH-TT specifically and btw the federal 10/12 chopper was huge , a whopping 24” , which is bigger than ACA’s 22” 10/12 chopper.And btw look up photos of a 10/12 port alert or chopper and 10/12 500 chopper and you’ll see the difference. And the federal 10/12 port oddly resembles the 8/12 cyclone rotor that ACA didn’t make until the late 70s

@@dank980 The rotors on the 500-SHTT and the Allertor are nothing alike. Not even a tiny bit of similarity. 500s use a "dual intake" design which makes for a large, drag-heavy rotor along with smaller stator holes to maximize sound pressure and output. The Allertor's 10/12 rotor was reused from the B&N Mobil Directo model BN44E, which predated the 10/12 500-SHTT by nearly 20 years.
