Such an awesome bar. A few of my local departments used this bar or the Federal Signal Legend lightbar but as a lot of them are upgrading their vehicles, they are installing the Federal Signal Valor lightbars.

i really wish they never discontinued this lightbar. it is by far my favorite! i wanted one with green leds with the white takedowns and alleys with the amber traffic adviser.

rjracing38 i have not i had only checked their website and saw the lightbar wasnt featured as a product they sold anymore... they still have information about said lightbar but when you go to shop it isnt on their page. thats a good idea tho. i want to get one as specified above for security work here in the state of florida and if im going to spend the money on a lightbar i want the best (in my opinion) lightbar on the market. ik there are many great lightbars out there by federal signal as well as others but this particular one has become my all time favorite... its just beautiful. its shape and overall look is just stunning... lol ik not many ppl wld choose these words for a lightbar bt i do because in the field of security work appearence is "everything"...

rjracing38 i will for sure thanks for the tip! as far as ive seen (and i pay attention to silly little details like this) they were extremely popular lightbars... i mean hell, LAPD equipped their ENTIRE fleet with these lightbars and my home town in upstate new york had these lightbars for yearsss before the switched to the Federal Signals Integrity lightbar... not a fan. idk i guess im bias cuz im obsessed with the Arjent S2 bt oh well lol

i just checked their website and the lightbar was officially discontinued December 31st 2013... 😥 they even had the audacity to recommend the Valor lightbar in place of the legendary Arjent S2... rude lol ITS NOT THE SAMEEEEE!

Hey rjracing38, I was just curious what a fair price for one of these would be? There is one for sale in my neighborhood and im having trouble figuring out if he is asking too much or what the fair market price is. The unit i am considering is used but all functionality works and it comes with the serial interface module. Thanks so much!

The Road Code, depending on layout, color options and setup, led, halogen, I've seen them for $150-$500...I've commonly seen them arou d $350 give or take but again, a lot has to do with condition and options....sorry I can't be much more accurate or give exact pricing...

Hi! What is the difference between the SL and the S2??? Can't find a clear answer ;o .....

The SL model I would consider the first generation where each lighthead has it's own power and ground wires and is a non-smart lightbar that does not have a controller inside. The S2 model I would consider a smart lightbar as it has each lighthead wired to a pcb inside and is hooked up with a cat5 or ethernet cable connected to a interface module or smart siren controller. Easy way to tell the difference between the two, SL will have like an engine harness coming out of the bottom of the bar, wiring for each lighthead while the S2 will have a power and ground with a cat5 cable coming from the bottom of the bar.

You can use toggles and momentary switches on the SL lightbards but for the S2 bars like this model here, have the cat5 cable hooked up to a motherboard inside the bar which does require a connection to either a SmartSiren device, Serial Interface Module or 3/6 button control box.

@@Hubjeep that would be awesome. Yea the SL model should be good to use some toggle switches and such as with those models typically have a large wire loom with anywhere from 10 to maybe 20 wires for each lighthead or function.

In order to hook this up to a 12 bolt / 120 volt converter power supply, does this require a control head ir module so that it operates properly?

Yes, if you have the S2 model with the cat5 connection, that cat5 wire will need to be connected to a control head or any of the Federal Signal devices compatible with the convergence network ports such as the pathfinder sire/light controller, 3/4/6/9 button controllers, smart siren platinum controllers, etc. If you don't have any of those, you will need at the least the serial interface module to plug the lightbar into and then from there, there's a wire harness that you can plug into some aftermarket controllers or even some of the older models such as a 6-button switch box of 4-button switch box with slide switch setup. Then your positive and negative wires coming from the lightbar will connect to your power supply.

@@allenkunihiro9081 haha, it's not too bad but it can be overwhelming at first. I learned everything by tinkering and playing with them, next thing I knew, I had a few reach out to fix their bars and even had some local PD hit me up cause their repair department was falling behind and I was able to get them going with rather quick fixes. Huh i can't get mine to activate fully, I can only get TD's and Alleys, and the second outter lights from the center TD's to work. I have tried the Cutoff wires and some switches, but nothing seems to avail.

What wires are have you activated from the serial interface module? Do your corner LEDs light up or is it just the modules by the TD? Just to make sure, you have the cat5 cable coming out of the bottom of the lightbar?

@@rjracing38 My CAT5 runs out from the bottom along with my positive and negative, As for wires im activating it's Black Red for Mode 3, White for power, and My red from the bar. Yes only the modules next to the TD activate.

Blake Freeman, the SL models are setup a little different. This one here is the is my S2 model which uses the cat5 connection to either a 3 or 6 button controller or a serial interface model...are you needing help for the serial interface module wiring?

This bar is not setup for the Whelen Liberty CHP flash patterns, I'm sure I could get it programmed for their patterns, I would just have to have Federal Signal manually program the patterns for me and set it up on one of my controllers or on one of my Serial Interface Modules.

Depends on what you are wanting, there are a few different sirens and controllers that will work on the S2 lightbar.

I have an interface to the arjent s2 beam but the outgoing plugs have terminals without plugs for the controller ... second thing: tell me, connecting this interface is cat 5 to the arjent s2 beam and black and black / white to ground? which one is positive?

@@dymion3471 Coming from your S2 lightbar, you should have your cat5 cable coming out along with a red and black wire, typically 10awg. The red wire will go to positive to the battery with a 40amp fuse and the black will go to the negative of the batter. The cat5 cable will plug to the back of the serial interface module. From the module, you typically will have about 24 wires which are setup for different options or commands depending on how you have the dip switches configured on the module. Your main three wires for power and ground will be black and the black/white wires for ground and then typically a solid white wire for ignition power. The remaining wires will be hooked to a power source or possibly a ground source depending again on the dip switches and how you will have that configured for either internal or external signal master and then have inline fuses for each as well. From the interface module you can then wire in line a switch box to operate each wire or command as you see fit. Federal Signal does have a instruction for service and installation for the serial interface modules to show how to really set them up depending on the configuration you are looking for.

Do I have to connect the cable to the positive one in the battery if I want to see a given lighting program? I have two statements and one says all positive and the other says 16 to positive and 8 to negative, I don't know anymore.

@@dymion3471 If you do not have the original interface module, that's not an issue...unless you buy a lightbar brand new from a dealer or manufacture, it will be hard to determine if the used bar is equipped with the original or not. The wire harness with the 24 wires or the J1 Cable, only come with one plug brand new and that is the plug that connects to the interface module so depending on what wires you want to hook up together and how you want to configure your bar will determine what and how many wires to tie together and install a plug on that end. With regards to the what wires are positive and negative, it all depends on how you have the module configured meaning, do you have an external signal master controller or are you wanting to use the internal controller. This is aimed more towards some of the newer models but based on the older files I have and what I can see, the mass majority of information will be the same depending on the revision controller you have.
