You are correct about the blasts. The thing is I haven't heard the siren sound for any fire and rescue calls. However, they do use it to call fire meetings. Sometimes this siren is a minute off on blasting too.

People are always going to complain about things, no matter what. I don't care what the motor size is, only that it works when needed to save lives. Alot of departments don't sound the siren for calls anymore, just use pagers. I think blowing it would be a good idea, so that anyone driving in the area can watch for the personnel responding, and the trucks leaving the station. This sounds like the siren at the department that I started out at. Makes me miss the fire service. Any idea the vintage of this siren?

@@jacksvacssafety2620 no problem Jack. I was just wondering if you had a rough idea. I'm guessing 40s or 50s. Thanks Jack

blaring the thing would make sense. there was a wreck in the area of Nehawka where a dump truck flipped at the intersection of Hwy 34 and the spur to the village. I was just a few seconds behind the hill from seeing it. I heard the pager go off for Nehawka but I was unsure if they were coming until I heard the ambulance. For all I cared that day was that the driver was okay
