I have a question: Since Federal Signal Made these up intill around the 2000's, could these sirens be equiped with battery backup?

No they couldn't considering it uses a 3 phase AC motor and the battery power required to drive something like that would be to cost excessive. Only way to back up a siren of this caliper would to have a standby back up generator.

only if they have a DC (Direct Current) motor, since battery backup systems arent always cheap.

To me it seems that these sirens seem to rust really fast. we have one in Michigan and I remember seeing it with fresh gray paint, but after 4 months the paint started fading away and the horns started to rust. Did federal signal not have enough money to make them weather proof?
