​@sage_monk Probably because you guys don't generally get severe weather. Here in the U.S. siren systems are a must. Not that the sirens are only used for weather, though. Im sure you guys have them in heavily populated areas in the UK, they are probably more for military threat though instead of weather.

@@flaw885 I mean, we technically get more tornadoes per square mile than the US does but you're right, they're not usually strong tornadoes. Though we do get other types of severe weather (just recently, we had severe wind, rain and ice/snow, thanks to storm Eowyn). And nope. Most places in the UK lack sirens completely, except around nuclear power stations and a couple of flash flood areas. We used to have a system of sirens around where I used to live because it was within escapee distance of Broadmoor (max security psych hospital holding some very dangerous people including serial killers like Ian Brady etc) and so I was used to drills every Monday - plus having to drive along the stretch of road running by the hospital and having signs every few hundred yards or so warning people never to stop for hitchhikers etc. was kind of nerve-wracking. I also grew up around military bases *as in living in a military town, and in London, living less than 1/4 mile from the barracks where all my classmates lived). Those were demolished before the pandemic though, to be replaced by cellphone-based alerts which, honestly, just blows my mind. But hey ho. If someone decides to nuke us, we just have to hope we get the message on our phones.

3:39 I have had an idea for an animated desktop I've wanted to make in Clip Studio Paint for half a year now, and this is damn near close to what the audio in my head has sounded like. I've been struggling to find "distant tornado siren sound" audio and this is the closest I've come.

I remember this day well! I was only a couple miles from the tornado and kept getting cell phone alerts saying "dangerous tornado on the ground"! It was very nerve-wracking!

That 508 activation was so fast, I thought the S.A.M.E headers sat it off.

I edited the SAME header to match the siren activation. The actual activation came a few minutes after the warning was first issued.

Wow! Definitely different from what I expected to hear after seeing Charlie Davidson’s siren and chase video from 2009 with the ATI. How long ago were the ATI sirens replaced?

It's been about 11 years since the replacement began. So it's been awhile. But now that I think of it, the 508s/Eclipses have already outlived the ATI system which was only active for ten years.

I remember in the december 2021 storm hearing one of st peter's 2001-130s and surprisingly it was going off in alert and that was the only time I heard a st peter's siren in alert. During tests they sound in attack. this 508 has something simular to the 2001s in st peters It's solar powered.

my cousin was in this tornado they him and his girlfriend and girlfriends parents they hid in a sam’s club in hendersonville under a table and the power went out and it didn’t really hit hard but he was able to see the tornado out of the car window
