Feds announce new rules for adding secondary suites to homes - October 8, 2024

Chrystia Freeland, the deputy prime minister and minister of finance, holds a news conference in Ottawa to highlight new incentives for homeowners to add secondary suites to their homes. She also announces the government is launching consultations on the taxation of vacant land.
Also speaking with reporters Jean-Yves Duclos, the minister of public services and procurement, and Terry Beech, the minister of citizens’ services.
Responding to questions, Minister Freeland comments on whether the government is considering proroguing Parliament as the House remains entangled in debate over the production of documents linked to Sustainable Development Technology Canada.
