I love the drive to help homelessness and the upcycling of the bags! Great job! I intend to make them and donate them to Marshfield Area Pet Shelter for fundraising items! Thanks for showing how to do it!

If you boxed the bottoms of the bags you would have a much more roomie bag and it would sit when packing them with groceries. You can find tutorials on u tube. How to box your totes. But i did make some from pig feed, yes very loud when turned.

I was just going to say this also. I have never seen them without the bottom being boxed.

Use a scrap piece of fabric to start your thread called a leader. It will lead the seam then you don't have to hold those tiny strands thread. Before taking up your needle push tbe scrap or end with another scrap fabric called an ender. ( it can be your leader when you start a again.

You can arrange with farmers, animal shelters. I did this too and ran ads at community center's bulletin board. Just 1 ad in the Sunday paper occasionally. my ad cost 2$ and boy did I get responses. I ran a vendor booth and did ok in sales. I got good feedback from people, they either like them or don't. Anyways, my booth was busier than most. Also you can submit a few bags to auction at an animal shelter for advertising with an informal agreement they will collect their feed bags for you.

Thank you for the video. We are in need of numerous tarps in odd, small and large sizes on a regular basis and would like to recycle feed bags into DIY tarps. Are you aware of anyone who is "fusing" or "melting" them together (successfully) to make large pieces of waterproof fabric? (Like several people are fusing shopping bags to make "fabric".) The problem we have is NOT wanting to sew these small pieces of "fabric" together for waterproofing reasons. This would save us on tarps and recycle feed bags as well? Any help would be appreciated.

Your video is awesome. I am disabled and I have been looking ofr a way to make some extra money to supplement my state disability. I have a few laying hens and i alwyas have extra bags, so I thought what can I do with these bags? So i am going to try this and try to sell them. I just wish i could find more bags. Thanks again for such a fun video :D

I am having a problem getting the tension set correctly. Any suggestions are welcome. I am using a Brother ULT2001

were you successful getting your tension set? I have used 3 machines, and every needle made. I can't get it right. An antique New Home, a new Janome, and my dads Singer uphostery machine. The stitching looks terrible like I haven't sewn for 50 years.

my other comment, a response to the needles question, probably should have said: ... all purpose or heavy duty NEEDLES both work well....

Take a look at the "tote buddy". I'm sure there is a buddy you could make out of feed sacks and add it to your community project.

so we should NOT use dog/cat food bags??
@SewEasyCreations3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can, just wipe them out. The odor of cat/dog food dissipates with use.

I use dog food bags ONLY for the picture ❤. They're not gross, they don't "smell". geez Virtue signaling is gross!! HA
