Our coach Mitch Patterson (Australian Representative in the 50m and 100m Butterfly) breaks down this swimmers catch and pull in detail. He looks at how:
- The pitch of the hand changes too dramatically causing her to lose propulsion
- A wide out sweep where the hand goes wider than the elbow is much less powerful
- The 'S' shape pull is the correct path of the hand, but it's only a very slight 'S' shape

Showing the right technique next to the one being analyzed is actually much better than switching between the two. As for the comments - same school, same ideas :) feels like I can do that too, just give me the mic and hold my beer.

I swam a 1:21/100y pace last weekend for an Olympic tri. Thanks for all of the help!

Hi Effortless Swimming Team, Thank you for your videos. I wait for your Friday videos. I find them very useful. I believe am an intermediate level swimmer. I feel my kicking technique is very weak. Do you already have videos on improving kicking techniques on your channel? could you please share?

Yes please. I cannot do a kicking drill unless I have fins on. I go no where without them. I think I’m better off not kicking sometimes. What is the secret?

In order to get a high elbow I often almost immediately reach down with my hand rather than extending all the way forward as often recommended. Partly because of limited shoulder mobility/pain. Is that wrong, reaching down? Thanks

I hope this coach would work on his explanation or speech, he makes easy changes sound too complicated, unlike Brenton who gets straight to the point and not over and over the same issue, nonetheless, very useful tips thou.
