unbelievably poor head position on breath for such a fast swimmer, looking back, loads of head movement

She should imagine posting a letter with her fingertips first then pushing it in with her hand, I think that'd fix her instant scooping of water and give time for the reach out and extension forwards, and roll the body a little on that side too.

It took me 5 minutes to see the guy on the right... I'm all for appreciating the effort but someone needs to get him some guidance STAT.

How do you get back into swimming after a while should be the next video OR the difference between open water stroke and pool stroke

I've just got back in to swimming after 16 years and it's hard work. Lack of fitness is a killer as your technique quickly fails as your stamina runs out. 4 months in and I'm just starting to feel like I'm getting a bit closer to where I want to be fitness wise but still a long way to go

Hey, thanks for sharing this info; it has really helped my swimming. Quick questions about Andrew´s kick; Looking at it from the side it seems like he stops kicking in the breathing strokes, like it´s not a continuous kick all the time. Is that actually happening or it just seems like it? I feel like that happens to me and i have been trying to fix it but i dont know if i should pay much attention to it.... Thanks again and greeting from Costa Rica (Central America)....

Jorge Palma hey man Andrew here! So for this swimming pace I was using a 4-beat kick (4 kicks per 2 stroke cycle - 2 kicks per stroke) which causes the pause in the kicking. The main reason for the pause is because you use up the 4 kicks in trying to get a higher body position for the breath, and that leaves no more kicks for a brief amount of time. It’s most efficient to do this pause just after the breath when breathing every 2 strokes (just after you put your head back down). It should fit in very naturally with your stroke rhythm. If I were going a faster pace (maybe under the 60sec/100m mark) I would employ a 6-beat kick (3 kicks per stroke) in which there would be no pause. I would recommend trying to employ a 6-beat solid kick throughout your stroke! Look on his Instagram page or keep watching these videos and you’ll likely see me swimming a bit faster with a 6-beat kick. Hope that helps! 👍

@@spoor24 Thanks you for replying, really helpful info. It seems to happen to me by accident, like i never practiced it or counted the kicks, i guess it´s a coordination issue. haha Thanks again

2:36 - leg work - it is noticeable he does more kicks when he's taking a breathe - is this to lift more above the water?

MaxTryk hey man Andrew here! Yep that’s 100% correct 👍 And it’s a more efficient place to do it too (it fits in naturally and more rhythmically with my stroke). Hope this helps!

at 1.14 the swimmer shown has open fingers doesn't that affect the reach and catch?
@manuelschmidt5705 жыл бұрын
I was thinking that too as well as that his hand is higher then his elbow during the reach. But I assume since is pull is so powerful that that's negligible.

What do you mean by 'stop and pause'? (2:50). Thanks
