If you dont have loads of rods. Is there something you can use to mark your line with if you are switching between clip distances

Yes,different coloured line markers,and multiple stop knots(that u use when slider fishing) ,with different colour line also.

An extra factor is the weight of the feeder or bomb you are casting. Heavier bombs/feeders will produce more line stretch and alter how you hit the clip, the 'swing back' and where the rig lands on the bottom. If you start off on a heavier bomb or feeder and then lighten up then you must add more line or you will end up fishing several feet short of your original spot. The same applies to adding extra weight. You could end up fishing 8ft+ beyond your spot. Remember that mono has a 20% stretch factor. This was verified on a Matrix underwater feeder fishing video. Its often said that you have to add 1ft of line for every three foot of depth. However this depends on the main line your using. With braid, then yes. With mono, then It varies. With light bombs and feeders then add 6 inches per three foot. With heavier feeders and bombs and a water depth of less than 10ft add nothing, the 20% stretch when you hit the clip will add all the adjustment you need. This has also been verified by underwater footage.

@@simonmoorcroft1417 Thanks alot,mate! I saw how many clips they have made,that s why i asked you,i wanted to see this first. One aspect that opened my eyes ,is how bad the fish mess up the swim ,if there is no hard spot that you can fish on,or what they do with the bait on the method,the liners... It s wierd that we imagine the presentation is perfect,when ,in fact,it s a disaster,method moved ,the hook bait falls right next to the method from the first few seconds ,fish stirring up the mud with their tails,making everything invisible... I fish for crucians,and what they do with the swim is crazy,and explains why after 2 or 3 fish ,you get no bites for a while. It s vital to have multiple swims imo,and rotate after 2 or 3 fish extracted . I am curious if you ve tried the method clip designs,that keep the hook bait over the method,at all times. Wierd that the guys that created them,don t use them. Tight lines!

re: the legs width distance. Any error will repeat so each rod will be set the same! the only advantage is that, if you fish the same peg again, you know precisely what distance you fished previously, but I don't think it matters too much unless your distance was really out.

Sometimes ,even 4 inches matter. Like when you are float fishing and there is only a certain spot, the size of your palm, where you get bites.

Can I ask.one question. I have Preston Innovations Ascension Feeder 11' 4" 3.4m 40g and I chose Preston Innovations Inertia 420 and Preston Innovation Ascension Feeder 12' 3.6m casting weight 60g with reel Preston Inertia 520. Is my choice a good or is bad hehe thanks

I disagree with you Lee yes you have measured 16m around your sticks but you have then got to add on the extra distance your rod tip is away from the marker plus the length of the rod ie 9ft 10ft or longer. So you are not clipping up to 16m

As long as you are consistent it doesn't matter. Edit: if you are holding the rod at 90 degrees to your body when you hit the clip it will be 16m.

Fish don't have tape measures, as long as it's a set distance that you are happy with then it's okay. Sticks give a guide to distance that each rod can be set to.

If you use the sticks then you’ve clipped up I assume, then you have your rod vertical when the clip is hit and the feeder ‘plops’ in, then you wind a couple of turns to tighten and sink the line which means it’s never the distance on the sticks exactly but you just need to repeat the process… I’d say casting accuracy is probably 90% of feeder fishing Never mind expensive other things so the sticks are good value
