Back in te day some anglers (including myself) used marvel powdered milk to help create a cloud in the water that had no feed value to the fish in it . This time of the year reminds me of the boxing day open on the Wombourn Canal were brarking the ice was a regular thyme.Tight lines & a full net, Geoff

For information, I've use a 11ft frenzee feeder rod and at the moment I have heavy method feeders ranging from 25 to 45 grams. I've been using krill ground bait and 2mm pellets as a mix for the feeder. Have various different pellets, wafters and maggots for hook bait. Just got myself some sonubaits mixed ground bait also. Size 14, 12, and 8 banded hooks, I'm a complete novice so any advice on which setup I would be best using is again, very welcome. Cheers guys and girls 👍

Really informative - thank you. Last Sunday I had 91lb of carp using liquidized bread for the first time in a method feeder which eventually bought them up to the surface, I then switched to floating bread flake. All this was in 6 degrees! Do you use bread in winter and how does it compare do you think to commercial groundbaits?
@CatchFishingChannel5 жыл бұрын
Oh brilliant mate! That's some fishing that especially in those temperatures. Yes we often use it in winter on commercials. Did you put the bread around the method then or with a cage feeder? Thanks for watching mate :)
@adrianpitt25435 жыл бұрын
@@CatchFishingChannel Hi Jamie....I was using a Preston Innovations banjo method feeder along with the mould and a piece of bread flake pinched on to the hook. This worked well but the big numbers came later as it seems that the small particles were (in part at least,) rising to the surface after the feeder hit the bottom, sending some of the fish to the surface ....lots of slurping winter carp was an amazing sight. It was at that point I bought out the float rod, pinched a big piece of bread onto a size 8 and bingo...I must of caught about 60lb off the surface. Not a bad result for £1.10 (2 loaves of Morrison's sliced white).

Brilliant very informative Jamie, tight lines fella,
@stevemccrory91305 жыл бұрын
Luckily, we haven't had the severe frosts you've had yet, but I know they're coming. Great insight and very informative, as usual. I have a question though, just an opinion-seeker really.......do you think that shorter hooklengths @ 4" or less stay in the feeder once the top layer breaks down, or could some lines flick the hook and hook-bait away from the feeder, giving the fish a free gulp at what's left on the feeder? I think that the hook often gets flicked away from the feeder which is why hi-viz baits have grown in popularity, and can bring more bites.
@CatchFishingChannel5 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, on most of the venues I fish they have a minimum length of 4" any way so usually that's not an option but it depends on the stiffness of your chosen hook length line. Stronger hooklengths tend to be stiffer so they are more likely to 'flick' out and straighten mate if that makes sense?
@stevemccrory91305 жыл бұрын
@@CatchFishingChannel I think it happens a lot more than we imagine. Try it with a 4" length of 3lbs line.....and then with 6lbs line....the results are surprising. And neutrally balanced hooks / baits together would have no effect either. Method (or similar feeder) hook-lengths when stored have a tendency to retain their shape, ie. want to remain straight, when remove from the hooklength box.
@CatchFishingChannel5 жыл бұрын

Nice video as always Jamie, you are a much braver person than me 😁 I have a question, if you could could help me out... I'm in the market for another landing net handle and I have to choose between the AQUOS and the HORIZON in 4 meters length. What would you recommend...? I need it to be stiff for easy scooping and also powerful enough to deal with the odd 14-17 lb carp. Weight of handle is not relevant. I'm asking you because the closest stockist is 100 miles each way from me and matrix couldn't be bothered to answer my simple question... Cheers bud, keep up the good work! 👍
@CatchFishingChannel5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching mate! I love and use both of those landing net handles depending on the peg / type of fishing mate but for fish up to that size I always use the Aquos Power handle which is that bit stronger for bigger fish it's this one mate www.fishmatrix.co.uk/home/product/aquos-power-landing-net-handle?c=nets-handles hope this helps :)
@andreim8415 жыл бұрын
@@CatchFishingChannel Thank you so much for your answer. It is exactly what I needed to know. The peg where I usually fish has a depth of 1 meter at 2 meters from the bank, but those 2 meters are also filled with vegetation, if you reel the fish into it, you are in for a couple of carefully chosen words. Most fish are 1-4 kg, you also get a couple bigger ones in the 5-8 kg and I wanna be able to land them safe 😊

Why dead reds as against live maggots which have movement to attract the fish?
@CatchFishingChannel5 жыл бұрын
Yes mate that is an option sometimes, a live bait can get extra bites sometimes can't they mate.
@neilwatt54975 жыл бұрын
Hello Roger. Dead reds with a few whites in and no maize can get you bites from a decent fish as silver fish can be a problem depending on the fishery your fishing. Also I believe the way you kill your maggots is very important and that is to put them in a tub washed off and fill the container so they have to crawl on top of each other to stop them from drowning and they will eventually take on air and float. Now drain nearly all the water off and nearly boil a kettle and get your container and put it in a bigger container and slowly pour the water in. You Will Have Perfect Lovely plump neutral buoyant maggots! Tight lines 👍
