Brings back memories of feeding cattle in my early teen years. Back then the bales were very the small rectangular ones, and we stacked them by hand on a trailer behind the tractor and then hand fed them out, I well remember the thistles in the hay. I can almost feel them now.

Yep! I remember sitting on a dozer for days on end pushing mulga during the droughts out western Queensland.

And here i was this afternoon cursing friendly cows scaring the rabbits away while reducing there numbers for land owner with the 22. Wading through knee high green grass in the house paddock. I am south of the border in Victoria and its night and day difference to your part of Australia.

Good day Josh brings back memories of feeding sheep and cattle during the drought back in the 90,s it was bloody hard , when we cut the strings we cut them at the knots and secured them to the back of the vehicle.

Hi Josh, you brought back memories when I used to farm. When we had drought we had small bales. We used to pour liquid marlasia over the hay before we fed it to the cattle. Feel for you all. I will pray for you all for some rain. Keep up the fantastic work you all you do mate. L.M

Just more proof for city people that all farmers do is drive around all day talking to cows lmao! ;) Hopefully there's some usefull rain soon. I know a lot of places that could use it. Parts of Western Downs is burning again. I was in the Burnett recently and noticed a LOT of feed getting hauled about. Really dry though there in places that are normally fairly green. Funny how people won't believe that some dried grass can weigh 3/4 of a ton. It's always good seeing property management done right.

I tie one end of the bail twine to the top bar that way they dont drop out the back when feeding !!! your way seems to work pretty good.

I'm loving your vids, I get to see the Australian countryside (so beautiful) another way of life and get to see the diverse wildlife, sometimes its even alive. 😅 I do understand why feral populations have to be controlled specially when they threaten native species.

Far out it's dry up your way mate! Were in North Vic Benalla area, just starting to go brown now, few pdks still holding on. Maybe a different way to try feeding the bales off the ute, Load on side, cut all strings off except one to hold together. When out in paddock cut last string then throw hay biscuits off the side of the ute. If that makes sense? It's what i do anyway, last biscuit hold onto string. Less strings taken into paddocks aswell 👍 Love the videos mate. Shooting and the farm work.

You normally have your wet season in the winter down south don’t you? Where as our winter is the dry season here and summer is supposed to be the wet. Thanks for that. I’ll have a look. But the trouble is because they are so long they will be sticking over the edges and the first bit will come off in a big heap which we don’t want as they tramp all over it while eating and east some.

@@intothenight1993 Yeah we do mate, opposite to you guys pretty much. Very true we were feeding off the back of a trailer towed by tractor. I just found easier to throw off sideways rather than kick off backwards with legs. Definitely a great way to feed out though the cows don't make a mess in the hay and clean it up well. Goodluck with the rest of the season mate hope you get some much needed rain soon 👍 hopefully run into ya when we're doing a 4wd trip through QLD sometime 🍻

I enjoyed watching this a heap more than i thought i would. I was disappointed in ended tbh. I moved back into town a few years ago out of necessity after injury and miss making that feed. I had 80 acres of flood plain that produced 3 or 4 good crops of Lucerne a year on the nsw side of the snowies. I miss the smell of it. I dont miss the rats but 😂😂

See in this weeks Country Life that the drought is supposed to only be a moderate one so maybe will get some summer rain. The problem is the longer it stays dry the more rain we need. I have to laugh when the media or the bureau says there has been good rain when only 20 mils has fallen. They have no idea.

Haha too many atm 😂 No that was about 2 years ago. But that’s how it goes. We will have plenty of grass after a good rain but this year we didn’t get the follow up rain to keep it going.

It's tuff, no Comanches, just drought, floods, and low ball buyers. I thought of farmers the other day when I bought 5 K of Hillston potatoes for 3.50 ,grower is getting screwed ide say.

Yes but we don’t want it all in one pile. If we spread it out like this then they don’t trample and mess in it and they pick up every scrap of hay and none gets wasted. 👌

No we don’t do any cropping and we can’t irrigate. So we have to buy it all in.

I have a pair of electronic ear muffs too but I get a headache from wearing muffs from the pressure on the side of my head. So I mostly use DIY custom mould silicon ear plugs. I would like to get some good quality electronic earplugs but haven’t made the investment yet

Pigs will survive on what’s growing under the ground and what ever animals are dead around them

Loved the insight , explaining how to load a bale , so it is easier to get off in pieces was interesting. Very dusty around the place especially when you shown the drone footage .
