A cool source of free feed that a farm I worked on found was the spent grain from a distillery. They would fill up those 350 gallon totes with this slurry of spent corn and barley, and every animal loved it. Once we got a load of spent figs they used for a rum they made, and I got nice and hammered from liquid that I separated out. I dont drink anymore, but it's still a fun memory, drinking sketchy fig booze, listening to a hockey game in a trailer in the middle of nowhere. City people miss out on farm kicks!

Wow, I had not idea that you could potatoes to cattle! I thought that they would at least need to be cooked (thats what you would need to do for pigs.. they can eat their aw but wont be able to convert much of the potatoe into meat). How much of it can a cow really process? A short google search said that up to 50% of the dry matter ration (Hay?) can be potatoes? In our climate (Nova Scotia) potatoes and grass grow quite well! Thanks for bringing it up BellsFarming! We have a 25 acre homestead here and I would love to have cattle some day.

I never knew cows like potatoes. As always i learn something. We used to raise cows on our farm for beef, and its nice to cut your steak up with a fork, very tender. That is a consistent job just being able to keep them fed because of lack of pasture space. With raising horses also, we always separated them from the cows because of horses will go to the next level in foraging and cows can't eat down that low, but its all good. I like that your operation is such a "well oiled" machine, always ahead and thinking. Impressive! I did notice that you were cold girl. Made me cold watching. You're tough Molly and love the smile. Always want the best for you and ty for sharing. Take care . ❤

From Australia. I can undestand Pigs eating potatoes, but I thought Cows would be more picky, you learn something new every day. During the Vietnam years those little potatoes were peekd and canned and called Tiny taters. The Australian Army purchased thousand and thousands of huge tins of the damn things. You became very sick of them in no time at all, but that was the only way we got potatoes in Vietnam. The cooks became quite adept at disguising them, chipped potatoes, potatoe wedges, plain tiny taters and of course mashed.

Ok that was cool! I’ve already sent them a message asking if they ship anywhere in the U.S. I’m trying to source a good place that raises beef and pork on organic feed. With this video it’s wonderful to actually see the process of the cows being fed on something other than feed that you know is made from genetically modified corn. See that’s why Farms like yours and Bisson Farms is important it’s not always the huge farms that farm 6000+ acres of corn and soybeans. They have their place and they are important but the family farms like yours-in my opinion are much more valuable because you don’t produce products that may cause cancer. Seems logical to me! 🤷🏻♂️
