Very interesting, love your approach to farming, i to love giving my herd equal opportunity in the paddock by holding them up, interesting your findings with empty rates and what row they were in last 2 rows know how to look after themselves it seems, thanks for sharing, your farm is looking amazing for this time of year 👍

Have you noticed a change in behaviour? We find them way calmer holding them back. I think we have about 10 days of runway and if we don't get any rain we will need to move to the next phase.

@FarmGate78 can't say I have really, but the last cows are always nice and full where as if I milk them straight to paddock they always looked like they needed bit more, cheers for your reply

Thank you for watching! Most of the Holsteins in the herd are by non NZ Holstein bulls. Although we have added a few NZ ones over the last few years as a trial. We are planning to do a genetics video in the coming months because it is something we spend a lot of time on.

Did I miss spmething? I didn't see any cleaning, stripping or dipping in the parlor.

Apologies for that. Those bits were cut in the editing to make the video shorter. We clean the teats with water before milking, and spray with a chlorohexidine teatspray afterwards. Bulk tank SCC is 71.

But generally then heifers are always Last for milking and they are usually get in calf better as well

Potentially, one of the strange things that has happened since we started this years trial, is the heifers come in earlier to milking.
