the individual pens are for heifer calves multi pens are for bull calves, new calves and weaned calves

its easier to monitor the health of the individual pens which are the more important calves (the future of the farm) and the bull calves leave the farm at about 2 weeks of age and the large pens are easier to clean out, also in the larger pens the calves sometimes fight and the bull calves are able to stand up to it better than a smaller heifer calves.
