Hey y'all! One (obvious) thing I forgot to mention: earrings. I'm pretty simple, so I tend to wear just hoops or studs. But there are sooo many options. Thank you for watching!!

Thank you for this video. I started my locs 2 weeks ago and it's been tough adjusting to how I look. Having my face be the centre of attention instead of my hair is not easy, I used to have a big fro that just stole the spotlight and now my face is out there, which is difficult.
@NinaUnlocked5 жыл бұрын
Having my face out there was the hardest part. Wearing simple makeup helped me a lot with that. Keep going...this is just a phase ❤️

You are so right girl, I am 4 years in and sometimes I like the frizzy roots but other times I really don’t. Beauty really does come from within and the sooner we realize that the more confident we will be.

I agree with you. I am so glad Im passed that phase. I’m 3 years in and I still feel like I have to do something to them. Locs can make you feel masculine even if you don’t look it. I think it’s because they’re associated with Bob Marley or Rastas. I love them because there unique. I’m one of the two people in my office with locs and I love it. I feel like a unicorn 🦄.

I just started my loc journey a week ago. Even though my hair is shoulder length, these starter locs are experiencing major shrinkage!! I did have to begin wearing a little makeup, which I’ve never wore before. But I will have to try your other tips. Thanks so much for thinking about us new locsters, lol and making this video.

Same. My hair is shoulder length and I started on two strand twists. Have you been styling yours?
@shani-gurlt83975 жыл бұрын
Jhanine Senior No I haven’t and only because my loctician and others say when locs are new, low manipulation is key for a healthy loc journey, at least until the hair locks. So I’ve been just leaving my hair alone (which is very difficult) 😀

I love this video. We all need to learn how to love ourselves no matter how we look. I just hit my 2 month mark and even though I’m experiencing shrinkage and frizz, I couldn’t be happier. I’ve never felt that I looked masculine but my favorite thing to do is throw on some big hoops or earrings whenever I do feel a little self-conscious. Thanks for the video. I love your kimono and your locs. New subbie ❤️

I'm 1 month in for my 2nd time around. I cut all my hair off 5 years ago, I'm a woman...so I've never felt unfeminine. When I had a short cut? I would wear bigger earrings. My draws up after a wash, so although my twists are on my neck and they hang/move back n forth...they don't touch my shoulders. So I'm going through a short phase...again lol. The frizz ticks me off...but I'm trying to move past it. Nice tips lol...it's all about that confidence!

@NinaUnlocked5 жыл бұрын
Moisturize them with an oil & water spray (olive oil, jojoba oil, or whatever kind your hair likes) and make sure you tie them up at night. There’s no magic bullet...just gotta live through the phases. You can make it!
@pamariesmith6775 жыл бұрын
Alynsha head bands or head wraps. You really can’t beat the frizz so don’t beat yourself up about it. I’m at 5 months too and I just wear cute hats, headbands and wrap my hair up. Think about it this way: you’ll only go thru this phase once and it will be over before you know it.
