I thought the same thing. All that rambling and shit had me confused as fuck. Very unhelpful video for me. Why would you start and install video when you already have the shit installed?!

Broke my wire while on the water. I felt my world crumble. I thought it was over for my yak. But now i see the solution is simple. Thank you, great vid. Im ganna take mine apart and see if its just the wire or the whole piece. Thanks again.

I followed this video to replace my cables. As seen in the video, I put the cables on the spindle and placed it in the 3 o'clock position. Assembled and finished installation, broke one tooth on both the large and small gear. For those of you replacing cables to the 8 Ball Steering, place the spindle with cables installed in the 12 o'clock position. Luckily for me Elliott at Feel Free Kayaks was understanding and very helpful. As for the small pin the handle has an opening that allows the handle to slide over the pin(no need for tweezers). Installed the 8 Ball Steering and the Beaver Tail Rudder on my Feel Free Kayak Lure 13.5'

first one broke got a replacement and this one doesn't seem to work. don't wanna seem like a hassle but you pay for something to work out the box.

Thanks a lot for this video, looking to buy 8 ball steering and install it. Seeing how hard it is. I appreciate it. You ever in Kentucky, I have an extra kayak if you want to fish. Shepherdsville KY.

Phenomenal video. What happened to the blue bungee? Is that not used anymore in these kits?

My eight ball rudder control fell apart immediately on my Big Fish. I took the hex screws out but the black plastic assembley feels jammed together and does not want to separate. Did you have to pry yours apart? It is so flimsy that it feels like the plastic will break. Tried calling FeelFree but just got a recording and no response. Thanks!

People have turned the 8-ball before the rudder was installed. You will more than likely need new cables. They will send them to you for free if you contact them. I got a new set. Just be SURE you do not turn the 8-ball goofing around until cables are attached. Then can fray and get caught up in the gears which ruins the cable and will more than likely cause the pulley pin to pop out where it will not turn at all

Great video, are those pins that are attached to the cable that go on that ring on the 8 ball already attached to the cable?

wonder if i can use this rudder control on my nucanoe flint

Ricky Fennecken you may be able to. You may have to do a little retro fitting.

Just had a lure2 tandem delivered yesterday. The steering feels cheap. And feels like something is in a bind. It definitely isn't right. It's doesn't turn the rudder correctly. It's my 1st kayak. I did a lot of research before choosing the feelfree and it's a little disappointing that they can't build a quality part when it such an essential part of the kayak. Especially after spending $2,299. Hopefully they stand behind their product, but I have a feeling I can fix it myself with less hassle.

The big rap against Native kayaks is their crummy rudder system. I have two that have given me loads of trouble. It looks like the Feel Free is just as poorly designed because my cable broke after just a few trips out on the water. Not a very good start at all for the Big Fish.

Just to follow up, FeelFree is sending me an upgrade replacement for my broken steering assembly so if it arrives, all will be good.

I had 8-ball jammed (broke actually) AND the pedal chew through the threads on the pedal stem. I was pedal-less and steer-less. It is a nightmare to paddle as well so I am scared to go out again. Everything is repaired and going to try tomorrow.
