Was considering a pair of Lems. They were super expensive and then I looked and found that supposedly they’re made in China. So I can’t justify such a price tag for what these are probably made for. Feelgrounds is made in Vietnam so probably not much better. Ridiculous costs for both these boots.

Here are the materials in the feelgrounds: Vegan PU leather (upper), TPE & TPU (sole), recycled fleece (inner lining), vegan fur (inside collar), felt (removable insole), recycled PET & polyester (laces) So… Plastic, plastic, and more plastic.

Genuinely interested to know cause you seem like someone informed and with an opinion on the materials, do you just not like them because you're wearing plastic? Or is their claim of using sustainable recycled materials not what it seems? Just wondering the context you're commenting from so we can learn more!

@@sonsofsever at this point, there is so much plastic in consumer goods that they’re finding micro-plastics in our bloodstream. I think in 20 years, the use of plastic in nearly everything will be looked at as idiotic at best and barbaric / inhumane at worst. From an environmental standpoint, all of this plastic is obviously awful for the environment. It’s just from oil. They try to sell it by saying it’s “recycled” or it “doesn’t hurt animals”, but they use it because it’s simply cheaper. It’s all about justifying using cheaper materials at the expense of consumer health.

I would be fine with vegan materials that are natural, like cotton or hemp canvas etc. but I’m just really trying to reduce the amount of plastic in my life.

Those are some nice looking boots. They both are just a like Except one keep your feet 🦶 warmer & that what I like. I just wish I could fit in them. It suck having very very Extremely wide feet 🦶 because shoes Makers do not think about people with very very extremely wide feet 🦶. Good video. Thanks you for sharing this.

So, I don't love my grip because it isn't actually flat inside. There is some arch support, and it tears my feet up if I run it with the insoles. If I take them out my arch doesn't touch so it is okay, but it makes it feel like there is some negative drop in the heel. I need something that is 100% flat. Is the Patrol actually flat inside? I am considering the Patrol Lite (damn boulder boot grips roast my feet, and you say the patrol is too hot, lol). Also, I'm an 11 in my Grips and if anything, it is a wee bit narrow. Do you think the Patrol would fit similarly? Thanks, as always.
@sonsofsever6 ай бұрын
Yeah I think the Patrol fits pretty similarly as far as toe box width goes with the Grip. If the Grip is too hot for you definitely don't get the Patrol Winter, it's significantly more insulated. As far as the flatness goes that's interesting! The Grips feel totally flat to me, so it's gonna be hard for me to say because I don't feel arch support in either of them.
@kitcraft95166 ай бұрын
@@sonsofsever Okay, thank you. I will have to check out the Patrol Lite! As for the flatness or lack thereof, I have an injury in my left foot, so it is quite sensitive. I am sure that makes it feel more pronounced than it is as it feels pretty flat to my right foot. Though, I can feel the drop off with my hand if I check. I just put some carbon insoles in them, and it helped a lot.

I think a fair head to head comparison is between the patrol winter and the regular waterproof boulder boot. Good video none the less.
@sonsofsever9 ай бұрын
Yeah my only beef with that is the original Boulder Boot outsole is pretty crappy. So then you're in a pickle because the Patrol Winter is too warm to use outside of winter but the Boulder has such crappy traction you don't wanna use it much anyways
@jeremebonesaw9 ай бұрын
@@sonsofsever that's fair. I used to pass the black waterproof boulder off as a work boot, but now I use the outlander ever since that came out.

@@jeremebonesaw nice! The Outlander is awesome. I have the black WP Boulder for work too, I really want them to make a black Grip though and then I will definitely make that switch haha

NEITHER: both are too narrow!!! The perfect shoe DOES NOT EXIST YET!! Softstar Primal boots are getting close, and Wyde Footwear has a good toe box outline, but no company has a good supportive, protective natural shaped boot yet. Jim Green African Ranger construction + Wyde Footwear shape = perfect boot.

I would say this opinion is just a liiiiiitttle subjective. People with extra wide feet, sure you would be right there. There are people who can completely splay in these boots. Just something to keep in mind. I’d love for them each to be 2-3mm wider but, they aren’t squishing my toes, and that’s my personal experience. Also, we recently handles some of the Softstar Primals….. ugly as sin 😂 no longer interested haha

The big toe is naturally meant to move 'outward', not 'inward'- I wouldn't say that is subjective. Most people's feet, including yours, have 'conformed' over time the the shape of the conventional shoe. If a narrow/pointy shoe is comfortable for you, then by all means wear it. However, I recommend trying to go more natural, and you will notice your foot shape start to go back to its natural shape over time. If you look at an infant's feet, or someone who has never worn shoes, you will see a natural shape. Just because the majority conforms, doesn't mean it's normal. Unpopular opinion.@@sonsofsever

and I do agree that Softar's are not attractive 😂 except for their boot line, it's moving in the right direction. @@sonsofsever
@sonsofsever9 ай бұрын
@@bboybrumley I would still say that’s pretty subjective. Just to give a few examples, my two-year-old, who hasn’t hardly worn shoes, and when he has, they have been barefoot shoes, my daughter, my wife, and my sister, all have pretty straight boxy feet. Their big toes do not splay out like you’re talking about. Some peoples do for sure. Go look at the Instagram page for realfoot barefoot shoes. Whoever their foot model is has the widest toes I’ve ever seen. But I would say his feet are an extreme exception. I’m not saying you’re right or you’re wrong. I’m saying you’re being too black and white about the shapes of toeboxes. Now, I will say I agree with you, I would rather have a more boxy toebox than a rounded toe box. But the round box is going to fit some peoples feet just fine. There is no one size fits all shoe, and there is no one shape fits all shoe. There never will be. So it’s best for us all to abandon our camps, and find what works best for us. This is the Sons of Sever formula for thinking about footwear
