As a state trooper we helped with security at one of Merle Haggards concerts and I got to meet him by shaking his hand. He could have just walked on but instead stopped and told us how much he appreciated me [us] patting my hand. Thank you for this tribute to him. He was not only talented but I believe a good man..

While both of them have now passed on, they live on through their music and their legacies. A good tribute. I'd wanted to see Haggard live since I was in junior high school I even read his autobiography. Later, I hoboed for several years and his music came to mean much more to me. Forty some years later I finally drove 8 hours one way to see him perform in Charles Town, WV. He died a few months later. If I hadn't made that trip, it would have been one of the regrets of my life.

back again for another listen. First class song, a really great tribute. We can only believe now that Merle is out there somewhere in a fine jamming session with his heroes, Jimmie Rodgers, Lefty Frizzell and Bob Wills. It was through listening to Merle that I discovered both Lefty and Bob. I was already a fan of Jimmy Rodgers before I discovered Merle, I liked the cover he did for his Jimmie Rodgers tribute album, Same Train a Different Time. So my love of JR brought me to The Hag. Meanwhile good country music will live forever Not one of these singers will ever be forgotten. Thanks, Dale and Ray for making this memorable song I am equally a fan of you both also.
