Daryl stating that he's not Andy really hit Prue hard because she just doesn't want history to repeat itself. Literally within months of Andy finding out that Prue and her sisters were witches he dies. she didn't want to go through that again.

I think they attempted to add an adolescent to the show but realized they couldn't do much with her except have her be a victim. They would have gone much further with Aviva from season 1. Actually, there had been talk of giving Danielle Harris a recurring role but she said the main actresses were already fighting and she didn't want to be around that.
