Mark you have already changed the lives of many. The things you have done and who you are as a person have inspired many including me. Your life means so much to so many people. I understand how you feel wanting bigger goals, but also look at the goals you have achieved. You have changed the lives of so many! Especially the longer viewers who have watched you for a very long time and have grown very close to you like myself and adore what you do.

Something I'm realizing as I grow in this job is the never ending need for "more." It's this trap that success can lead people into; a bottomless rabbit hole of more opportunities, more accomplishments, more projects, more of a legacy. You reach the next milestone, but it quickly becomes not enough. You check an item off your list and another gets added. And you step back and realize it's just another drug, just another high you're chasing. Self-checking that feeling is really hard, especially in our line of work. I get what you're feeling. You're not the only one.

no ,that's normal for ambitious people>>>>they always feel they are not doing enough no matter what! when you start to feel you are doing enough ,you will stop making progress. because your mind hates to feel uncomfortable , and it will do whatever it takes to feel better . and as he says ,he is looking for future , because that's what matters for a human, the future ,the past doesn't really matter . i can see that mark feels empty , like existence of a jewel for no reason.( and that's just guess ) i really thank him for giving us such a unique experience , i can only see from this, learning a lot about life.

Also for those who decided NOT to commit suicide because marks videos and words help him, their world is very different. For me personally, if I hadn't found Mark I NEVER would have ended up getting into lets plays. I would't be watching him, Jack, or 8 Bitryan (which is basically all I do on youtube now). So the way I spend my freetime is also very different from what it would otherwise be had he not done lets plays on youtube.

Oh Mark! You're such an ambitious one! It's definitely not a bad thing! People like you change the world, and I think you have, and will! I'm behind you all the way! And a lot of your fans are! You reach a wide, WIDE audience! That's a huge advantage I think. It takes a bunch of people to bring about change, and you have that! A whole community! I don't really have advice... I have only felt this way in passing--and as a depressed almost adult, I can only do so much.... there's a long road ahead of me--and you as well! I'm not sure how to help the world. There are lots of things. The environment, politics, SO many things.

These 'thinking/rambling out loud into the camera and finding a thread along the way' kinda videos feel like a quiet conversation (albeit a one sided one) at night with a friend. I'm glad you trust us enough to give us a chunk of your thoughts sometimes, Mark. And there's always some sort of warm comforting feeling by the end of these videos. It's really nice, for lack of a better word. Hope you find that something that may or may not be missing, Mark. ♡

They said “it’s ok to not be ok, as long as you don’t give up.” I don’t think they’re trying to say it’s ok to go shoot up a school. They’re saying that feeling sad or unhappy is not a bad thing, as long as you believe that things will turn out ok eventually. I say this with the upmost sincerity, I think your ambition has burned you out to an extent. I'm not saying to stop being you, not at all. You're so focused on "[your] future, your friend's future, humanity's future," etc. and there's nothing wrong with preparing for the future, but I think you're so set on what's going to happen tomorrow or what your 30s are going to be defined by, that you feel like today is passing you by which makes you feel glum. I've had concerns similar to yours to where it nearly consumed me and the only thing I could think about was the future and what I was going to do. It was miserable because I couldn't enjoy being in the now. My mom still tells me now to take life one day at a time. Nothing wrong in preparing for the future, but don't spend your life worried or stuck thinking about it. Enjoy your life, man. You've got friends, family, and pets that love you dearly, and they wouldn't want you to feel down because you're thinking about the future of everyone. Enjoy your life. Don't feel that you have to "define" your 30s or any other age. Life is different for everyone. I'm still trying to figure out mine. Don't whittle your's away trying to figure it out for everyone else.

I watched with him and laughed as well but also watched some of your more serious vids it's amazing what you do. I also believe that just about anyone or everyone wants to do more to help make our world a better place to live. It can be hard on making decisions what could be more helpful or joyful to the populace that is culture or population. Turning 30 is just another number but I do understand the need to want to do more than what you're doing now. Maybe start a new project? A bigger one then "Who killed Markiplier". Maybe a movie? Something that you think is important, and something that you think will inspire others. Maybe try different art forms, maybe make a short film that doesn't revolve around the Markiplier universe. Or even, maybe go on a trip to somewhere you've never been before, if you can, go explore the rare parts of earth. The world is a big place, and has so much to offer. It's all up to you Mark, but thanks for what you've given us so far. Whatever you do will be great because you are you.

Same. I failed my last exam and have to leave the nursing program. Now, I have to wait a semester to either go back or do something else. It's ok to be feeling down as long as you figure it out and pick yourself back up. I would donate my time if I were you to those people less fortunate. It's the holidays and families don't have food for Thanksgiving, older people are lonely in the nursing home, people are forced to stay in the hospital during the holidays because of unforseen events. It feels good to help and make a difference. You make a difference indirectly for people and that's the incredible thing about youtube. We are all searching for purpose. I understand you man. We will figure it out and hopefully find our purpose. Much love man

There are things in life we don't understand. The sudden bouts of unease and loss of direction can strike at anytime and will hit anyone. I cried. It's unbelievable how you manage to put my feelings into words. I relate so much. I'm currently battling depression, and I believe a big precursor to this hopelessness I keep feeling is the knowing that I want something to strive for. I crave to feel that I have a purpose and that I change the world for the better everyday. I feel a strong desire to move forward, but I just can't seem to figure out where to start and where I want to go. What am I good at, what do I want to do with my life? This feeling of wanting to achieve something and the lack of hope and direction really fuels any depression, and my depression really blocks the light I'm trying to find. Thank you for being you. Once again you put my feelings into words and show us that we are not alone.

It blows my mind that this man spends so much time doing and giving and being the best kind of human to look up to, and he still wishes he could do more. That's not something you see very often. It's such an admirable quality. But, it is also a damaging one. I look up to Mark so much. He's the kind of person I want to be someday. He is one of my driving forces. And it makes me wonder: If Mark has done all of this and still wants more, than what more can I be doing? What kind of change can I bring about? Because I also wish to do good and to leave more than I take. Hopefully, me, Mark, and anyone else feeling this way will soon find their purpose. Maybe soon, we will live up to our full potential...

it’s 4 am where i am and i was feeling so so down and idk what i was looking for but i was just randomly scrolling on and on through vlogs of marks looking for a fun one to distract me but this one popped up and for whatever reason i felt so compelled to watch it and i’m so glad i did. idk how i didn’t see this when it came out but i’m glad i didn’t cause i definitely needed it more now. ignoring my issues won’t make them go away, but attempting to process what’s getting me down and why will help even slightly. just watching this and being able to identify with so much of what you said in this lifted me up a bit and definitely made me tear up. idk dude. he’s been there for me for like idek five years now?? and i’ve always leaned on him, and i know he leans on us. everything about this just felt like i was meant to find it at this moment right now. cause this is EXACTLY how i’m feeling. and i didn’t and still really don’t know how to deal. even him saying to get some sleep just made me feel so connected like he was right there telling me that since it’s so late and i can’t sleep cause my mind is constantly racing right now. i don’t know... thank you though even though i know no one will see this. this is my own little ramble, thank you for reminding me i need to do this at times.

Mark, this melancholy feeling is probably because you’re a little stressed. You just launched cloak and you’re having fun on the channel and all but because you’re putting out so much content so fast that you’re now subconsciously preparing for the future. And the more you think of the future, the more scenarios you create for yourself, and overall you’re just over stressing yourself. And also, slow down! I know you stated that you were bored and you wanna do more and more but the more you do now, the less you have later, and eventually, you’ll run out of things to do and you’ll get bored again. All you should do know is take like a week long break, chill out, have fun with Chica, sleep in, and discover new music. Mark, you’re amazing and you have inspired me and many other people. Don’t worry, you’re fine. Now relax and chill out.

Hi Mark, it's okay to feel that way, it happens to all of us and more recently it's happened to me because I feel like my career hasnt advanced where I'd like it to be, because I would like to also leave a positive change in the world. Part of the problem that I found out is that you should not compare yourself to people, and how they've impacted the world as opposed to you. The fact that all 22 million of us love you and support you, is proof that you are doing more than enough for the world, and always trust us to push you forward with whatever we can offer. Depression can creep on upon anyone mark. It can come in waves. These waves can be short, long, really frequent, or really delayed. From what I/we recall, you've gone through a lot this year, starting a clothing brand, losing loved ones, doing things that most people wouldn't even believe they would be able to do in their life time. You move people, more then you think. And those people will move you back. But sometimes, despite all the good, and the bad that happens. Depression will always find a way to sneak up on you, and put a dark cloud over your head. It makes you feel like you have a sense of continued dread over you. Not so much that you'd be worried for your safety or someone else's safety. But more along the lines of you being overly careful about what actions you end up doing which, if left unchecked. These actions will start running your life, more then you want them to. You gotta try your damnedest to manage your life and what you wish to do, and even what you wish to feel. If you're missing something, try to achieve it. Now... With all that being said. I know you want to go out and do more mark, and by all means go for it. But be warned. I've seen people try to go forward, go beyond youtube. And some of those people are quite successful, and others aren't. Not saying you wouldn't be, its pretty clear that you are extremely successful with how you've built yourself and your channel. It's just. "WE" don't want to watch you go down a road that you're not ready to handle. You might not be able to handle it. Hell, you might BE able to handle it, but it might become a bit to much later on. It all depends on whether or not you're ready for that change. Whatever you wish to do mark. Make sure you think it over first before doing it. We will support you throughout the whole journey. It's just we also don't want to watch you fall off halfway through either, because you weren't ready. Sure, failing is a learn experience. But failing continuously isn't something you would want to do. Which is what I/a lot of use fear would happen to you... We don't want to see you become demotivated, to the point where you stop trying, and give up. Hopefully, that won't ever happen. Regardless. Best of luck though with everything. You changed a lot since I/a lot of us have found you. From the first time I found you steaming SCP-087b to now. You've changed and grown a massive fuckton. *Aside from height I guess :P* And I sure the hell hope you continue to grow and expand to as many people as possible, to leave your "mark" in everyone's heart and so forth.

Even when you say you're a little down you let "us" know and try to sort it out with "us". KZbin doesn't have a lot of Creators like you these days I feel. More people are making content for the sake of making content and that's perfectly fine, It's great. But you, you seem like you make videos to better the lives of all of us. You inspire us to do our best. I'm watching this at 3:30 at night I'm so happy that I did. At night everyone sleeping so all you have is your own thought and you see things that you don't see in the day because the day is always occupied so night time is sometimes a great time think and reflect on your own thoughts and ideas. I have to say Mark, I know exactly how you feel. New year's eve 1998 my dad died. I was 12. 10 years later I felt really down, and didn't even connect the dots. Obviously I feel down every year. Then this year it was 20 years (I'm not old, not old! 32 is not old dammit). And it has hit me so hard, and again more subconsciously. I started to question everything in the world. I started avoiding facebook and the news because of the depressing stories everywhere. And more importantly I wish I could do more to help those in need. And it's saddens me so much that I can't. But your videos, they have been a constant bright spot. Your infectious enthusiasm, the raging and the laughs. The jump scares and the honesty. Every single one has had me laughing, crying and just feeling better knowing that there are people like you out there. So thank you. Because of you, I have decided to give streaming a try as a way to talk through random things, whether people are there listening or not, it's an outlet. Thank you for just being you

Mark, I think that you are looking in the wrong direction for happiness. I, like you, am a 'go getter' and am always looking to the next thing to bring fulfillment and happiness in my life. I have found that (when I am able to) living in the moment and taking true appreciation in what I already have, is the only path to lasting happiness. You must look within to find inner peace. Looking to the next project or idea etc. will not bring a feeling of accomplishment and happiness that is lasting. It took me an awful long time to figure that out and I constantly battle with the need of 'the next best thing'. Perhaps saying this to you is my way of trying to recapture that same feeling of fulfillment that is found in complacency. It is a constant struggle but one worth fighting. Good luck Mark...and I know as sure as the day is long I will need that same luck myself! Cheers!

I too have felt this same 'longing' for the next thing, but it always seemed end in depression because nothing really fills that emptiness inside. People like myself need to look inside and appreciate what we already have to find true happiness. I always seem to be in my head when i should be living in the moment. Best regards Karma! 3b I honestly couldn’t have said it better myself! I went to therapy just yesterday and my therapist said a lot of time with creators of any kind (I’m a writer) you always want to act on your next big idea and you push yourself and you critique and basically everything you said. So yeah, really hope mark sees your comment cause I’m sure a lot of people experience this and don’t even notice. Oh, and mark. My therapist also mentioned Looking at the future can cause anxiety and looking at the past can cause depression. Sooo that may be something to keep in mind as well.

@Markiplier According to psychology, a man/woman about to be in his 30s or in his 30s goes through what is called a "Mid-life Crisis". Basically it's everything you say, you look back at your life and think what to do want more. "Many middle-aged adults experience major life events that can cause a period of psychological stress or depression", you want and think you can do more which is good. But this might be an explanation to what you feel, but even if it wasn't as humans we want to be better people. You have potential and if you want to do more you do it! Good luck, have fun, and enjoy the ride that is life. (P.S If you do see this Hi)

'I want to leave behind more than I take' -Markiplier Mark,I know you wanna inspire people and make something great with what you have but you have to see that..you are a person, and we all care about you in our very own ways,we all believe that one day you'll do something so great and help out this world. I find it great that you share your own feelings with us,I just wanna connect here and say I've had this same situation. Your surrounded by happiness and you're happy yourself, but sometimes sadness or despair gets the best of us. Just know that no matter what we will all be here to support, love, and care for you. ~Love you Mark, hope you feel better~ ❤Always have hope❤ Sorry,I just had to add something else. Mark, you give so much yet you feel like it's so little. You've given us plenty, but here you are giving us more and more everyday. To be honest,I feel bad that I'm not doing something to support you,and I'm sure alot of us feel the same way. Love is a powerful thing, and you've given it to such a big audience of people. Please, don't push yourself too hard. We can wait as long as forever for your great plan to make something great. I'll never leave you behind Mark, just know that. Just imagine how many lives you've changed just be posting tweets,or pictures, and even videos! My mother has just died of blood cancer, and I wasn’t going to write this, but I’ve decided to, because your open with your feelings and experiences, so why don’t I give a little bit of that trust back. I get this feeling all the time when I finish a comic or story. I spend so much time putting my soul into these projects but then when I've accomplished the task and it's all sai and done... I domt know what to do next. I dont know where to start again. I get like.... a 'victorious depression'. When I get caught in these cycles mark, I usually buy a notebook. And I fill this book with ideas, my wishes my Hope's and dreams. And I fill the book until I cant fill it anymore... then I read it all front to back. And I choose one thing. Maybe this could help you too mark. It helps me.... but remember that we are always going to be here and we will always be behind your efforts to change the world because believe me, we need more people like you who are out to make a difference.

You've done so much just by smiling. That's more than many budding youtubers and people in the arts have done. It's ok to feel a little empty but just realize that you have filled the world with so much joy making our lives a little less empty everyday. Maybe you shouldn't measure your life based on achievements all the time and measure it based on being happy. Achievements come and go but being happy is all based on yourself and who you are and who you have surrounding you. Be happy because you've made many people happy. Whatever you do we will be proud.
