Something I'm realizing as I grow in this job is the never ending need for "more." It's this trap that success can lead people into; a bottomless rabbit hole of more opportunities, more accomplishments, more projects, more of a legacy. You reach the next milestone, but it quickly becomes not enough. You check an item off your list and another gets added. And you step back and realize it's just another drug, just another high you're chasing. Self-checking that feeling is really hard, especially in our line of work. I get what you're feeling. You're not the only one.

Oh Mark! You're such an ambitious one! It's definitely not a bad thing! People like you change the world, and I think you have, and will! I'm behind you all the way! And a lot of your fans are! You reach a wide, WIDE audience! That's a huge advantage I think. It takes a bunch of people to bring about change, and you have that! A whole community! I don't really have advice... I have only felt this way in passing--and as a depressed almost adult, I can only do so much.... there's a long road ahead of me--and you as well! I'm not sure how to help the world. There are lots of things. The environment, politics, SO many things.

I say this with the upmost sincerity, I think your ambition has burned you out to an extent. I'm not saying to stop being you, not at all. You're so focused on "[your] future, your friend's future, humanity's future," etc. and there's nothing wrong with preparing for the future, but I think you're so set on what's going to happen tomorrow or what your 30s are going to be defined by, that you feel like today is passing you by which makes you feel glum. I've had concerns similar to yours to where it nearly consumed me and the only thing I could think about was the future and what I was going to do. It was miserable because I couldn't enjoy being in the now. My mom still tells me now to take life one day at a time. Nothing wrong in preparing for the future, but don't spend your life worried or stuck thinking about it. Enjoy your life, man. You've got friends, family, and pets that love you dearly, and they wouldn't want you to feel down because you're thinking about the future of everyone. Enjoy your life. Don't feel that you have to "define" your 30s or any other age. Life is different for everyone. I'm still trying to figure out mine. Don't whittle your's away trying to figure it out for everyone else.

You should go back to doing charity stuff again. You always had this fire and passion when you were making content based around helping others. In fact you could probably start your own charity to fight what you believe is the biggest problem in this world. Personally I would love too see you do something for the homeless, or Red Cross because they are helping the people in California that have now become homeless.

I cried. It's unbelievable how you manage to put my feelings into words. I relate so much. I'm currently battling depression, and I believe a big precursor to this hopelessness I keep feeling is the knowing that I want something to strive for. I crave to feel that I have a purpose and that I change the world for the better everyday. I feel a strong desire to move forward, but I just can't seem to figure out where to start and where I want to go. What am I good at, what do I want to do with my life? This feeling of wanting to achieve something and the lack of hope and direction really fuels any depression, and my depression really blocks the light I'm trying to find. Thank you for being you. Once again you put my feelings into words and show us that we are not alone.

It blows my mind that this man spends so much time doing and giving and being the best kind of human to look up to, and he still wishes he could do more. That's not something you see very often. It's such an admirable quality. But, it is also a damaging one. I look up to Mark so much. He's the kind of person I want to be someday. He is one of my driving forces. And it makes me wonder: If Mark has done all of this and still wants more, than what more can I be doing? What kind of change can I bring about? Because I also wish to do good and to leave more than I take. Hopefully, me, Mark, and anyone else feeling this way will soon find their purpose. Maybe soon, we will live up to our full potential...

Mark, this melancholy feeling is probably because you’re a little stressed. You just launched cloak and you’re having fun on the channel and all but because you’re putting out so much content so fast that you’re now subconsciously preparing for the future. And the more you think of the future, the more scenarios you create for yourself, and overall you’re just over stressing yourself. And also, slow down! I know you stated that you were bored and you wanna do more and more but the more you do now, the less you have later, and eventually, you’ll run out of things to do and you’ll get bored again. All you should do know is take like a week long break, chill out, have fun with Chica, sleep in, and discover new music. Mark, you’re amazing and you have inspired me and many other people. Hi Mark, it's okay to feel that way, it happens to all of us and more recently it's happened to me because I feel like my career hasnt advanced where I'd like it to be, because I would like to also leave a positive change in the world. Depression can creep on upon anyone mark. It can come in waves. These waves can be short, long, really frequent, or really delayed. From what I/we recall, you've gone through a lot this year, starting a clothing brand, losing loved ones, doing things that most people wouldn't even believe they would be able to do in their life time. You move people, more then you think. And those people will move you back. But sometimes, despite all the good, and the bad that happens. Depression will always find a way to sneak up on you, and put a dark cloud over your head. It makes you feel like you have a sense of continued dread over you. Not so much that you'd be worried for your safety or someone else's safety. But more along the lines of you being overly careful about what actions you end up doing which, if left unchecked. These actions will start running your life, more then you want them to. You gotta try your damnedest to manage your life and what you wish to do, and even what you wish to feel. If you're missing something, try to achieve it. Now... With all that being said. I know you want to go out and do more mark, and by all means go for it. But be warned. I've seen people try to go forward, go beyond youtube. And some of those people are quite successful, and others aren't. Not saying you wouldn't be, its pretty clear that you are extremely successful with how you've built yourself and your channel. It's just. "WE" don't want to watch you go down a road that you're not ready to handle. You might not be able to handle it. Hell, you might BE able to handle it, but it might become a bit to much later on. It all depends on whether or not you're ready for that change. Whatever you wish to do mark. Make sure you think it over first before doing it. We will support you throughout the whole journey. It's just we also don't want to watch you fall off halfway through either, because you weren't ready. Sure, failing is a learn experience. But failing continuously isn't something you would want to do. Which is what I/a lot of use fear would happen to you... We don't want to see you become demotivated, to the point where you stop trying, and give up. Hopefully, that won't ever happen. Regardless. Best of luck though with everything. You changed a lot since I/a lot of us have found you. From the first time I found you steaming SCP-087b to now. You've changed and grown a massive fuckton. *Aside from height I guess :P* And I sure the hell hope you continue to grow and expand to as many people as possible, to leave your "mark" in everyone's heart and so forth.

You inspire us to do our best. I'm watching this at 3:30 at night I'm so happy that I did. I have to say Mark, I know exactly how you feel. New year's eve 1998 my dad died. I was 12. 10 years later I felt really down, and didn't even connect the dots. Obviously I feel down every year. Then this year it was 20 years (I'm not old, not old! 32 is not old dammit). And it has hit me so hard, and again more subconsciously. I started to question everything in the world. I started avoiding facebook and the news because of the depressing stories everywhere. And more importantly I wish I could do more to help those in need. And it's saddens me so much that I can't. But your videos, they have been a constant bright spot. Your infectious enthusiasm, the raging and the laughs. The jump scares and the honesty. Every single one has had me laughing, crying and just feeling better knowing that there are people like you out there. So thank you. Because of you, I have decided to give streaming a try as a way to talk through random things, whether people are there listening or not, it's an outlet. Thank you for just being you

Mark, I think that you are looking in the wrong direction for happiness. I, like you, am a 'go getter' and am always looking to the next thing to bring fulfillment and happiness in my life. I have found that (when I am able to) living in the moment and taking true appreciation in what I already have, is the only path to lasting happiness. You must look within to find inner peace. Looking to the next project or idea etc. will not bring a feeling of accomplishment and happiness that is lasting. It took me an awful long time to figure that out and I constantly battle with the need of 'the next best thing'. Perhaps saying this to you is my way of trying to recapture that same feeling of fulfillment that is found in complacency. It is a constant struggle but one worth fighting. Good luck Mark...and I know as sure as the day is long I will need that same luck myself! Cheers!

@Markiplier According to psychology, a man/woman about to be in his 30s or in his 30s goes through what is called a "Mid-life Crisis". Basically it's everything you say, you look back at your life and think what to do want more. "Many middle-aged adults experience major life events that can cause a period of psychological stress or depression", you want and think you can do more which is good. But this might be an explanation to what you feel, but even if it wasn't as humans we want to be better people. You have potential and if you want to do more you do it! Good luck, have fun, and enjoy the ride that is life. (P.S If you do see this Hi)

Just wanted to say. If you need time. Then we’ll be happy to give you it. It’s okay if you need time to recalibrate. Your feelings are your own, so don’t worry about feeling bad for us! So, If your unhappy, please remember, we’re here for you, and for a long time from now, we will be. Also, a bigbigbigbigbigbigbigbigbigbig ect. Happy birthday. Also, it’s not wrong that you don’t think everything is enough, everyone feels like that sometimes. It’s okay if you need time off, just warn us, and just do it. We all love ya mark, And we’re right behind you if you wanna get out there, and help people, and be everything you want to be. Everyone wants a better world. And if you keep trying, it WILL mean something. Love your work, keep being awesome. And...if you don’t think you’ve affected people. Know that you have helped me, when I was having my worst year of my life. My mother has just died of blood cancer, and I wasn’t going to write this, but I’ve decided to, because your open with your feelings and experiences, so why don’t I give a little bit of that trust back. Thankyou, for you and Jack helping me through a part of my life that could have shattered me. Thanks mark, just for being you.

Mark you're allowed to be uncertain, sad, ambitious, etc. It takes time to find this stuff, so do it step by step. Explore to your hearts content, succeed and fail till you find the thing that clicks with you. I've been watching your channel for a long time and right now you're at such a high point in your life that you can see how much you've done and you want to do more. That's great! We are all so proud of you just remember to take it a step at a time as you explore new things.

Mark I know you're probably not going to read this because of the absurd amounts of comments you get on a daily basis, but I understand what you mean when you say you feel like you're empty. Of course I don't know your exact situation but I've always had the feeling that I'm not doing enough and that I feel empty because of it. But I want you to know that no matter what you do going forward you have definitely had an impact on multiple people and things. Your fans, KZbin it's self, and so many more. I know a lot of people who tell me that they've watched your videos to make themselves happy, and I do the same thing most of the time. We all love ya Mark, you're really an amazing person.

Change the world? Dude! mark, you are a 22M subscribed to KZbin, who raises money for charity, inspires laughter and happiness to those who watch and are lots of peoples' personal heroes, *my* hero, you have done so much to change the world, don't ever doubt that you are making a difference, ever. You are my, and perhaps all other comenter's heroes, as well as most people who watch your videos. Never change. *Ever*

I know I'm a couple months late, but I just wanted to say that you're such a great person, Mark. You bring so many people so much joy, I admire your charity work, and I'm really grateful for your videos. I'm not always feeling, well, happy. And whenever I get really down, one of my favorite things to do to cheer myself up is to watch some of your videos. Your funny ones for a good laugh or some your deeper, more meaningful ones to put a smile on my face. You never fail to make me feel better, even when life is really difficult and heavy. I know you don't know me, and that I'm just another person in this comment section, and that you may not even see this, but I just wanted you to know how much I, and so many other people, appreciate you. Thank you so much, for everything that you do. And I really hope that now, a couple months after you posted this video, that you're feeling much happier.

I get this feeling all the time when I finish a comic or story. I spend so much time putting my soul into these projects but then when I've accomplished the task and it's all sai and done... I domt know what to do next. I dont know where to start again. I get like.... a 'victorious depression'. When I get caught in these cycles mark, I usually buy a notebook. And I fill this book with ideas, my wishes my Hope's and dreams. And I fill the book until I cant fill it anymore... then I read it all front to back. And I choose one thing. Maybe this could help you too mark. It helps me.... but remember that we are always going to be here and we will always be behind your efforts to change the world because believe me, we need more people like you who are out to make a difference.

I feel honored to hear your thoughts no matter if they’re sad, happy, confusing. No matter what emotion you have and show in these videos, in a way I can feel what you feel and relate to what you say on a personal level. Idk, it makes me feel more connected to you not only as just a viewer or a fan or supporter, but just another human being with the same emotions and thoughts. Or I’m just crazy 👌🏻

I completely understand you. My whole life has been standing still. I acknowledge it's my fault and i've been handed opportunities many times to amaze myself but never took them because i did'nt feel ready or i liked where i was. Mark you have so much in your life, you don't realize there comes a time where you need to step back and see that you have millions of people watching you for you. You've done so much just by smiling. That's more than many budding youtubers and people in the arts have done. It's ok to feel a little empty but just realize that you have filled the world with so much joy making our lives a little less empty everyday. Maybe you shouldn't measure your life based on achievements all the time and measure it based on being happy. Achievements come and go but being happy is all based on yourself and who you are and who you have surrounding you. Be happy because you've made many people happy. Whatever you do we will be proud.
