Blue eyes are a recessive trait, so Flynn has to have two blue genes to have blue eyes. That means he got the blue genes from both you and Erik. Therefore, you and Erik both have a dominant brown eye gene and a recessive blue eye gene. Genetics are freaking fascinating!

When my friend got pregnant at 28 we were sitting in her livingroom freaking out like 16 year olds. We did the same thing when I got pregnant at 30. Like what is my dad going to say? I literally have the “I’m a mom?” thought once a week. For me, I think it’s because we fill so many different roles. So when you think about it, we change our voices (at least when they’re little), and refer to ourselves in third person before they understand pronouns (“can you bring that to mama?”), and are hopefully really conscious of how we interact with them (so constantly analyzing our interaction-again third person). So I totally get this! I love him, he’s my son, I literally call myself “mama” when I talk to him. Then I put him to bed and step back into a different role and I have that bizarre thought of “I’m his mom. He’s making memories similar to what I did with my parents, and in this story IM A MOM?!”

My daughter just turned 30 and I still have those moments where I think “whoa, I’m a mom?! And I raised this amazing, beautiful person! How did I do that?” BTW, when we have hangout time together it almost always includes watching your vlog ❤️.

My son just turned 20, and I look at him and I'm just in ... shock. 1, that he's a full fledged adult now, and 2, that I "made" him and that we raised such a wonderful young man. I still remember that feeling of looking at him when I first saw him and that complete awe, and I still feel that every time I look at him.

I have those moments when I “forget” I’m a mom. There are two specific activities that always make me stop and think “woah, I’m a mom”. Anytime I take my kids to the doctor and when I make PB&J’s 🤣🤣 Don’t ask why only those two things, but without fail if I’m doing one of those two things, I am completely in awe that I am responsible for two humans haha

I literally feel “not a mom” so often but love my son more than anything. Also as far as you not thinking about what life with them will be like- it’s a defense mechanism. I miscarried earlier this year and had the same feeling when I got pregnant again a couple months ago… unfortunately I lost him as well. But your brain/subconscious is worried about losing again and it’s in survival mode. Wishing you all the best with this pregnancy/delivery 💕

I grew up in Canada and in the winter it would get so cold that when we went outside for recess, our fruit roll ups would freeze from the cold!! We hated it! I remember biting into it and it would just shatter 😂

When I was growing my bangs out, my aunt, who is a hair dresser, recommended that I made them compromised bangs. Basically what you do is cut you bangs at an angle to one side. Then as the grow out, they start to more smoothly blend Inot your hair. This also makes it easier to sweep your bangs to the side as the get longer and longer.

I don't have kids yet, but I say to my husband all the time "I can't believe we're married." In reality, I can barely believe that I'm not single since I didn't start dating until my late twenties and have been single most of my life. Also, my mom always tells me that her sentiments after having me was "Omg I'm supposed to keep this little thing alive! Now how do I do that?!" Well, turns out 32 years down the road and I'm still alive and kicking and doing not so bad!

I understand your guilt even though I am a few years away from being a mother, but I understand that you're overwhelmed in the context of the definition of the word. Feeling overwhelmed is a part of being a human. The best advice I can give you, and that what my family gives me, is that it is okay to focus on the now. The fact that you're going to be a mother of three is already an overwhelming thought of itself. Just take every day one step at a time. I have two theory’s on why you can’t imagine life with the twins. Theory 1: you were pregnant with Flynn you had never been a mother before. But now that you’re pregnant with the twins you know what motherhood‘s going to be like so you don’t have to imagine it. Theory 2: you’ve always been surrounded by people who have had babies one at a time. Like with Jessica you used to seeing her do it one at a time. But now you get to do something that you haven’t seen or been around a lot you don’t know what to expect when it comes. Also both of these could be completely wrong but thought they were interesting ideas to maybe help.

I’m sure it feels so surreal to have two. My husband is a twin and his mom always says how she almost felt as if she missed out on those “milestone moments” because she was so exhausted and busy, and as for the pregnancy felt on edge the whole time since they were both rainbow babies! You are NOT alone. I’m so glad you have support from your family and Flynn to love them and teach them to be kind ❤️ it will feel overwhelming but it’s all going to be so so wonderful!!! My kiddo will be three in October and my husband and I still question ourselves, we can believe we're parents and we can believe we get to be parents to the absolute most amazing tiny human! Yes we totally feel that way!
