A new type of paediatric treatment is underway in Japan. Attending the graduation ceremony is the desperate wish of a 14-year-old girl with Malignant lymphoma. She finds a new lease on life while staying with her family at Child Chemo House. Unfortunately, this institution is not recognised as a legitimate hospital and therefore not financially supported by the government. This puts a financial strain on medical professionals and the families at the facility, but they’re trying to turn the situation around.

#Stories about children with sickness (#小さな命をみつめて)
Yomiuri TV has been dedicating our efforts to cover stories about children with sickness. We hope that our efforts contribute to a better environment for those children as well as to further the awareness of child medicine in Japan. We have created English subtitles to reach more people in the world. We hope to continue to be a helping hand for the children with sicknesses and their families to enhance their quality of life. Acknowledgment should be given to the two translators; Mr. Takehiro Hashimoto and Mr. Sean Bradley for their dedication.

I admit that one of the first things I thought after seeing her was "she is pretty", that only proves how shallow most of us are. Complimenting her looks is not a bad thing, but she is fighting for her life and at that point beauty doesn't really matter. I hope she's doing fine.

I think it’s amazing they do this for child cancer patients. They’re still able to live while having cancer with only a few restrictions. This I feel is better for their physical and mental health, better than being bed bound. I wish every cancer patient was able to live like this so it’s just a little but easier for them.

she seems like such a sweet kid, and her sense of humor despite her circumstances is admirable this series of videos continually breaks my heart, but in such a beautiful and profound way. thank you for letting these families' stories be heard, and i wish all of them the best 💕 EDIT: and all my respect to kusuki-sensei for what he's done and his compassion even in such dire circumstances. more medical professionals could learn a thing or two from this man

$15 - $20 per day?!? That's between $450 to $600 per MONTH!!! Given the average income (in Japan and the US) the family can use the extra money to make sure they don't fall behind on other bills or pay medical bills, this easing some of the financial strain. Please tell me there are places like this in the US.

FOR PROFIT Hospitals,Facilities, and Clinics including cancer centres are ILLEGAL in Japan, all hospitals, facilities, and clinics must also be owned and operated by Doctors/Physicians only, even Private healthcare facilities are funded by the state and donations, families can contribute however compared to the West, these Fee's are highly if not completely subsidised. The Japanese see Healthcare as a basic human right and as a culture do not accept or understand how healthcare can be for profit. Yet Japan is still able to push innovation and progress in healthcare without the "for profit" model and Japanese Medical Research is well funded by the state and private sector.

I hope the evolving technology could reach to the point where we can have 100% guarantee to cure cancer or at least somewhere close to 100% :'( or maybe develop a cure that wouldn't compromise the patient's body further :'(

Measles and Chicken Pox is common amongst children in Japan? Don’t they get vaccines against these childhood diseases? These diseases which used to be common, barely exist nowadays where I live (Northern Europe)…
@vece_calls

I believe it's still very common here in Asia, at least in the environment where I live in, I hear a lot about people getting measles and chicken pox, but they're never serious as we all get our vaccines.. I never had measles before, but I got chicken pox 2 weeks after I was born.

Isn't chicken pox common though? Ofc i'm from Asia so i don't know how things are like in other continents. Here most ppl get chicken pox when they are children. They say those who got chicken pox as adults really get it bad so it is better to get it when you are young.
