Great to see you back vlogging or blogging (whatever!!)....posting videos which I always find interesting and informative, but most of all gives us a glimpse of a place we love so much

Great video Robin. I do miss these. That last mooring on the Ant is lovely. We always spend our last nights there before returning to Richardson's early morning. Hope to see more videos soon.

Thanks for the video. As a bit of a fair-weather boater at this time of year it gets difficult to find motivation to go to “Harmony” but watching your blog provides the spur and today We’ll get out there. All the best. Paul

Well, I feel boats should be used all year so it’s good to see you trying it outside the ‘fair weather’ and finding how lovely the rivers can be in the Autumn.

Was a bit, also randomly forgetting to end clips or jumping between days is not exactly ‘polished’ but kinda makes it more real. I’ve also produced a new feature ‘Conversation By The Riverside’ where I just talk in a pod-cast style format about two of three topics. Alas having made it I duly deleted it as for confused between iPad, iCloud and transferring files - sometimes Apple is a right nightmare when a micro-SD card would solve all when you’re low on storage.

Great Rob ,nice to see you, to see you ---- oh enough of that , I've been on the broads no end of times ,but never have really explored beyond Richo's. Would like to return next year ,but after last visit in early May ,which was a disaster, might have to give it a miss . Keep safe ,and if your truck driving aspirations happen ,let us know !

We moored there October last year, really like it there, and thought while we were there about buying some gardening tools to trim away the overgrowth so we could moor Lightning in a lot moor wild moorings. Nothing extravagant, just some shears, hand shears, maybe a hand axe etc, i deal for keeping wild moorings clear. As for doing something different, why not try a boat from Bridge Boatyard in Ely, and tour the fens, or maybe a classic cruiser from By-gone Boating on the Thames, and cruise to Lechlade and back?. Nice simple blog, looks like you had a really pleasant time, and on an empty river.

Enjoyed this, sometimes less is more ! As a novice boater on the broads, would you consider doing a short video on the electric hook-up points, how they work, where you purchase the electric cards etc, many thanks.

Great video we love watching them :: could you please recommend a good boat company to hire from for days and weeks hire thank you very much
@TheCaptainsBlog2 жыл бұрын
I no longer hire boats so am out of the loop so to speak. I’d say though from experience all the yards apart from Herbert Woods would be where I’d be looking at. I just feel Herbert Woods charge a lot but their fleet is tired and interiors of boats and engines left year on year where other yards will update furnishings or fit a new engine to replace an aging one.

Mines a Sheerline 740AC. Just had a hardtop version for sale at NYA Brundall for £36,950 but was only on the market about a fortnight so they are snapped up pretty quickly. Norfolk Boat Sales, Norfolk Yacht Agency are a couple of the larger Brokers on the Broads but also look at the likes of Apollo Duck for private sellers too. I’d have a budget first and secondly two or three types of boats (style wise) rather than just focus on a single style or manufacture.

I often think about it too, but it was home not so much a cursing the rivers boat. I do find Trixie very cosy and comfy, but am considering in future something just a tad larger 32’-35’ maybe duel helm so no canopy to worry about but also not too large.
