Great to see you out on the water, and well done for getting a bike into the video! 🚲🛥

I need to get new handle bar grips. The rubber ones are not nice in this heat. Soft foam or smooth rubber would be better than the ribbed ones currently, which do nothing for my pleasure 🤭

Great to see you back. Our holiday on the Broads was cancelled. So so gutted. Can’t wait to get back down there someday soon. Loved the video.

Keep on doing the blogs Robin, it's nice to see the Broads & how you & Shelia are getting on. I'm pi**ed off because we should be there, but, our holiday was cancelled due to Covid 19, better safe than sorry, life is precious & there's always another safer time to be on the Broads. Be safe & take care, both of you.

I only discovered your vids a short while ago when looking for reviews on a particular boat and you had done one (Sunlit Horizon). Have really enjoyed watching your back catalogue and seeing my favourite place in the world. Interesting to see that Brooms have been keeping busy during lockdown building a hut - very smart! We had to postpone our April holiday so tagged it on to our already booked September hol - so, all being well, we will be able to enjoy it for a whole month! I do think it will be much busier this year though than September usually is. Keep posting!

Nice to see you two back on the water again. Your video’s have really got me wanting to go back again. Maybe August and there’ll be pubs open?? Definitely not wanting to use my passport this year...or maybe never again. Quite honestly, wouldn’t miss it. Haven’t been down there for 15 yrs or so. We honeymooned there in 89. Then took the n laws a few years later who loved it and our two, then mid teens, but they didn’t. BORING ! I think they would definitely enjoy it more now. In fact, she said just recently, “ sounds like a good shout this year” Beginning to sound like this could cost me twice the price and “ we’re gonna need a bigger boat” But Hey Ho, I didn’t think the four of us would ever holiday again. Who knows, post Covid and he new normal...could be better for all of us.

Hi Robin Just wondered if you had ever done a vlog on the whys and wherefores of Boat Shares. Be good to hear from you what the benefits and pitfalls are. Cheers
@TheCaptainsBlog4 жыл бұрын
I don’t have a boat share in the sense of a proper managed syndicate. I am not sure myself about such but perhaps Russell Thompson aka the Admiral would be better to ask as he has a share in a managed syndicate.

well hopefully july there will be boats on the rivers as Barnes Brinkcraft are hoping to reopen to hirers in July, as ive asked them about it and asked about September bookings and they said that they reckon all booking from august onwards are safe so September will be busy and it will be the busiest September they'll have ever known or seen they said

No.. Had planned last year to go up to Whitby. That had to be called off and so was keen this year to make up and go bigger down to the Channel Islands and then.. Covid-19 turned up. So another missed chance for something worthwhile. Also, I decided to give up the usual life - leave London and all I know, begin a new life in Norfolk and the live-aboard life a go. Proved most refreshing but also has taken away some of the very reason I enjoyed boating (the freedom) because I have since become rather more interested in four wheels than the waterways. I’ve a new wish to get something ‘classic’ that was of my time when growing up - so perhaps an old Rover 800 or Citroen XM which once I saw thinking ‘wow’ and now are all but forgotten.

I have one, but I was doing all this on a couple of iPhones. Since I don’t have a good Broadband connection it takes half a day to upload videos to You Tube from my phone and I use iMovie to edit on my phone. Nothing fancy these days just pick up and shoot.
