Bear Bryant was still coaching at Bama and I used to read Finebaum's articles and especially his football predictions on Saturdays because of the dozen or more writers that made the predictions, his were the most accurate. Some people think he grew up in Alabama because they think he's a Bama fan. But he isn't. Finebaum he is a Tennessee fan. He hides it well on TV and apparently considers it unprofessional to let it show. But he wasn't near as good at it when he first started his career. His articles on the sports section commonly included anti-Bama and anti-Auburn overtones.

I can’t believe Finnebaum is still employed by ESPN after this disaster. 1. Pulling the Holocaust card like that has anything to do with anything with this discussion. 2. Coming for people personally and talking over everyone 3. Bringing up that Darius Rucker is black and “you know that right bomani” which is totally a racist implication. 4. When Bomani says “Paul I’m as southern as you are!” Paul mumbles under his breath “yeah right okay” basically implying that Bomani can’t be as southern as he basically because he’s black. Considering Paul grew up in NYC while Bomani was born in ATL and lived in Texas most of his life. Has to be one of the most unprofessional interviews I’ve ever seen. And it’s crazy to me he’s still employed by espn after all this.

That Holocaust comment was so arbitrary. Bomani Jones is a better person than me to not just say bs during Paul's asinine rant.
@kincrawford59066 жыл бұрын
Because it didn't contribute to the discussion. It was about as relevant as him saying where he went to high school. Paul's whole rant was to deflect and avoid talking about the actual issue at hand. For instance, he brought up Williams being an entertainer, as if that cleared him from being roasted for his political comments. Then when challenged he flipped and said what is wrong with an entertainer voicing his opinion. Every time Paul got revealed he switched to something else. The Holocaust, Darius Rucker, all of that had zip to do with the topic.
@anthonybarlow206 жыл бұрын
Karl Frederich because Paul wasn't stating facts he was stating opinion in 90% of what he was saying outside of the Jewish comment he pretty much said what he felt nothing wrong with that but don't call out Bomani for stating facts. Well that was really disappointing. I like Finebaum as lot but he came off as a deflecting, double-talking, justifying flake here. I thought he was smarter than that. He made pointless, unrelated remarks, made claims that the other two were saying things they didn't at all, and had no real argument of his own other than the South is all great and everyone loves Hank, Jr. which is far from the truth. He sounded like the Fox 'news' pundits he was trying to play down as entertainers who no one really believes (which is also ridiculous cuz unfortunately millions buy it hook, line and sinker). And yeah, Jones did mention black people, because you (and Hank) didn't. C'mon Paul. I expected better. The Holocaust? Really?

Chris Griffin Yep, its funny when someone says he's not white he Jewish and forget the fact that the white and black race were created based on skin color and not ethnicity which started in the 1600s

It's amazing that all you have to do is learn how to see both sides of the argument. Bomani sees the merits in each case but succinctly separates out what is irrelevant. He is wasting his talents as a radio host, he could be a serious policy maker. Well done Bomani.

what did the Holocaust have to do with Hanks Williams who I might add, hates Jews as well, as he's stated multiple times? It still had nothing to do with the conversation, as if it qualifies him in some way?

Paul made a good point. How can you fire a guy for his political opinion? Just because it didn't coincide with ESPN's liberal network, they cut Hank Jr. He was absolutely right.
@lusciouslou2502721599 жыл бұрын
+Seth Glass He wasn't fired because ESPN is a liberal network. ESPN is an Apolitical network and doesn't want to associate itself with ANY political ideology that may offend ANYONE. This one was a no-brainer for them cause there was a racial component to what Hank Jr said on Fox news.
@sethglass83499 жыл бұрын
Oh boy someone voiced their opinion on a SEPARATE NETWORK, let's fire them
@lusciouslou2502721599 жыл бұрын
Ya dude. That's how ESPN rolls. They don't like it when people on their payroll get political in any way. They see it as a distraction. Simples.

+Seth Glass Free speech is protected. If you say or do shit that your employer doesn't like, you risk getting fired because they don't want to be affiliated with you.
@singingchef238 жыл бұрын
+TheOneAndOnlyNAB free speech is not protected when your under contract as a public entity. I'm positive he has a conduct clause as many places do when your a public figure, no different than an athlete signed to Nike can't be caught wearing competing brands. Hank knew very well what he was doing and he threw it away, it was his choice. And to be clear, if you work for a corporation large enough, your social media posts can and will absolutely get you fired and a judge will laugh your cause right out of court if you claim wrongful termination. Even if your just a janitor at Bank of America. What say can be used against you, this has been established many times over.
