Feiyu Pocket 3 - Mic Hack Attempt - Opening the handle

Update: So I reviewed my video and realized there is a MEMS microphone on the back side of the PC board. This means the design of the device has the audio passing thru the tiny hole in the plastic body, and then ALSO thru the hole in the PC board in order to be sensed by the microphone. I'm not quite sure it would be safe to also try opening up the hole in the pc board as there isn't a way to remove the soldered on MEMS mic chip from the board in order to not damage the chip.

They should recall all handles to the camera and replace with better mics on them.

main mic is in main unit and not remote unit, right?

Correct. I believe they are the same type of mic element though. Once connected to the handle, the camera mic is bypassed in favor of the handle mic.

Could the camera mic hole be widened then? Perhaps if the mic hole on the camera section is widened, and then the camera section is then removed from the handle, the sound would be improved… Also ChatGPT suggested that my DJI Mic 1’s transceiver can be connected via USB C to the unit and that possibly sound recorded from my DJI Mic could be used instead of the onboard mic on the Feiyu unit. I’m doubtful about this, but it is an interesting idea.
