I just saw your video and went to test the gimbal and found the same glitch. But I also found two things. It is possible to make the diagonal move without the glitch. You just need to have the gimbal centered before starting the movement. I was able to make several diagonal movements with it just a few seconds ago without having that glitch. So, if you start with the gimbal already centered, it won't have to recenter itself when it goes down. And for the switching upside down, all you need to do to prevent, if you don't want that to happen, is to hold the joystick button down, when come close to the point where it will flip.

Hello no you don't need to remove the phone to switch to vertical I just realized I never showed how to switch to Vertical on this video. You can see the battery level if you have the phone application turned on. I'm trying to remember if vertical mode is a sequence of Taps on the buttons or if you manually turn it vertically but it can be done easily

Can't clearly tell if the gimbal introduces jerkiness or it's your 25fps video introducing judder by causing my monitor to wait 6 times per second waiting for the missing frame. Do the math, 25fps on my standard 30fps monitor. ALL monitors are 30/60fps default out of the box, and you aren't in a PAL system location. Otherwise, good review...

Thanks for checking it out my man. My camera shoots 24 frames a second I'm not exactly sure what the editor put it out as but it's probably your computer causing that jerkiness serious maybe try watching it back on your phone instead or a tablet.

Great review Ray and like others have said, it's very refreshing to have an HONEST review of a product. I was just about to pull the trigger on the Vimble 2 but after seeing your video, I thing the sayin " you get what you pay for" rings true. I have never owned a gimble, but am quite interested as I want to take this out hiking, maybe do some live streams. What really interested me is the selfie stick aspect, but even as you were walking/jogging I could still see movement. Do you have a recommendation for a less expensive gimble?

Jeff Holliman hello actually all Gimbels will have some movement when walking it's not a fault of this gimbal, it just doesn't stabilize up-and-down movement, only those Hollywood stabilizers do that you attach to your chest with a vest. I haven't tried any other gimbal as yet so I don't have any recommendations but I suggest looking at a few other Chinese product comparisons. If you can afford it DJ I will probably be the best bet. In the meantime I'm going to brush up on my Kung Fu in case this company sends ninjas to silence me LOL

Jeff Holliman hey if you're not doing those Hollywood crane moves you will be alright. I'm curious if mine was a fluke or if they all are that way. Keep this in mind though this particular Gimbels motors do not rotate 360 degrees. That might be the reason I was getting that glitch in extreme movement circumstances. If you're just walking around vlogging it's fine

I'm not sure if I can answer that my man because not every phone's microphone slash earphone jack is in the same place. Best thing you can do is look at your phone's Jack and see how it would Orient in this particular gimbal

C4R108 I still need to figure out a solution for this. I have been so busy that I haven’t addressed this as of yet. I was thinking of some ideas including designing a bracket to print on a 3D printer that would hold the phone case and fit in the gimbal. I will also need to add weight to balance the weight of the lens on the gimbal. I think moment has a part for this.

A few folks commented that I had the phone incorrectly mounted in the gimbal causing the glitch but that is not accurate as the phone was still neutrally balanced, I shot this vid with the phone in the gimbal with its base touching the gimbal as recommended and the behavior remain the same unfortunately

Raychristofer I was looking for getting one for my friend who shoots/directs doc footage. She’s currently using Sony Xperia handsets on a selfie stick. She needs some type of image stabilisation. This looked pretty good. I may still buy her one, given the price. I want to see if it’s usable when pole mounted. I notice it has a 1/4 female tripod thread. I inderstand that the controls would not be reachable, but maybe it could be set to work on a pole. Have you tried it on a pole? I appreciate there ia a telescopic handle, but it’s not very long. I assume that the control grip talks to the gimbal via BT. If so, I may able to take the handle off and attach the gimbal snd camera to either end of a longer pole or parts from a selfie stick.

@@dewexdewex yes you're right operating the controls would be a problem but yes you can put it on a pole you can technically operate it from your cell phone app but it would be difficult for her to do that with a touch screen not being able to feel the buttons while holding the camera at the same time. But it is possible. For that reason I don't like such screens especially in cars because you have to look at what you're adjusting but that's a whole nother subject

They said it's because my phone was not flush with the base. I think a big problem is the brushless motors do not rotate 360 degrees and I think it is reaching its endpoints which is causing that problem. No it was thoroughly balanced though the end wasn't touching the phone base. The manufacturer said the same thing you just did and after repositioning the phone I shot another vid showing it behaving exactly the same and sent it back to the manufacturer, they didn't respond after that. Others have had the same issue
