"Sonic P-06" managed to fulfill Sonic Team's Vision of what the Original "Sonic 06" could've actually been if it wasn't Rushed in Development to be released on such a Terrible State that was still Memed on to this very Day, "Project-O6" is proof that you can actually Remake or even Rebuild it entirely from the Ground up to Iron-Out all the many Mistakes from the Past to just Fix it when Time flows by, sadly though, Updated Patches were barely a Thing back in 2006 in the PS3 and XBOX 360 Era, "Cyberpunk 2077" has it's fair share Terrible Moments when it became a Disaster at Launch, but got much Better over Time thanks to Updated Patches.

@@Thaumiel98 Goes to show how many good ideas they had for the tone and story that unfortunately weren't fully fleshed out by the time the game released. The folks working on P-06 are currently developing the bosses, so I can't wait to see what kinds of things they improve with the game's narrative aspects, especially with the new in-level cutscenes they added.

sonic 06 is such a disappointment, Actually its beyond that. Not just because of what it was, but what it could have been. With such beautiful art direction, amazing models, incredible writing (especially character) and fantastic sound/ audio components (best music in the franchise apart from unleashed imo), really innovative and cool level design, its easy to see how much effort was placed in the concepts of this game, and it all was let down by cutting corners and rushing... It let us all down with how weird and unplayable it was. I still have never completed it, but its still my favourite sonic game. maybe its the rose-tinted nostalgia glasses but I really love this game and its story (minus some elements..) I love seeing it be redone, maybe one day I will finally get to complete it.

I still so badly want an official sonic game with as much thought out and intentional story as 06, something large for the canon, monumental, with all the characters, instead of avoiding it because its too "complex". complexity is what is missing from current sonic games, and while they are enjoyable I much prefer the early 2000-2010 sonic games (for the most part). I think something that made this game so fun when I played it was using its multiplayer. one of my most missed aspects about sonic games now is multiplayer lol

also now that i'm spouting out my opinions I also really wish sonic boom rise of lyric (and the other two games) where better thought out. Sonic boom is my other favourite sonic era for the show alone, I wish the games reflected quality better. I loved the character focused nature of that, even if it was light hearted. Sonic characters need to be written more thought out, consulting the previous canon on what their personalities and ideologies are, consult the fandom of what they think but ultimately there is story that has significance and that is already present and waiting for you to consult. People want a good sonic game, I mean Really good, the last time it was that was a while ago, thats why people keep looking back. There is a reason why sa2 is so held up and used/ referenced in sonic games now, its because it was amazing and has amazing writing, it started a new era in the story, and a new era for what sonic and co would become, it utilised lots of characters, it had lots of side plots and character specific things going on that fleshed out the world, it had different play styles for those characters which allows so much more enjoyment to be had out of those games. Sonic 06 was an attempt at that, and that's why people are so upset and resent it, its because of how rushed and unfinished it was, it felt like what we wanted was poorly mashed together and the good aspects of it were lost to its unplayability. We want a game to start a new era, while its fun to have a couple break games, with chill enough stories and fun gimmicks sometimes like werehog, or rings, sword, custom character, whatever. Sega and the sonic franchise is growing stale, it needs to commit to a new milestone, just because 06 failed, it doesn't mean give up and never try again, people loved it and hyped it up, everyone was so excited for it to release, it can work, and it will with the right effort, it means to redeem yourself with a new mark. A good way to go about it is simply that it needs to *build* (more) upon the pre-existing lore and reach a new benchmark to create more story and games off, they already know what works, they have the recipe but it seems like they are just waiting or don't care about it, they just want to pump out mediocre games with gimmicks for high prices and people will pay, but its leaving the fans bored, dry and tired. I love the sonic franchise but its getting tired hoping and waiting for developments in the storys, for what feels like a lifetime, when they dip their toes in like with sonic prime for example it establishes itself as canon and then (spoilers) it basically oops' that and establishes nothing, always trying to neatly sweep things under the rug when things don't go as planned, too afraid to add to the canon. and too overpleasing to fans, do something grand and the fans wont go anywhere, they will except it when it is thrown in their faces, and new fans will tag along too, more modern story's and developed themes and characters people can identify with. The fans will wait, all I can hope is something better will come out eventually.

Also Sonic 06 doens't needed to be entirely reworked and remade in a completely different manner like Resi 2 or FF7. I bought and played Sonic '06 for the first time about a month ago. I heard stories that I THOUGHT were exaggerated, but I couldn't believe the poor state that this game was released in. It took me 20 minutes to finish level 1, just because I kept clipping through terrain to my death, falling to my death during non-controllable scenes, etc. Having said that, I decided to download the latest version of P-06 and it quickly became one of my favourite Sonic games ever. Hoping SEGA will eventually give Sonic Team the time they need to properly finish a game.

I love how P06/Knights of Kronos looks, but I'll always prefer the original game's overall look [animations and lighting notwithstanding]. I really hope there's eventually a mod to restore retail's less saturated colors and remove the admittedly quite agressive normal mapping used on so many materials [rocks, bricks, and the walls in Dusty Desert interior have it the worst imo]. The more washed-out colors fit the tone and world of 06 so much more... and the normal mapping is just a peeve of mine lol, any time I use normal maps in my 3D work I set the height pretty low to keep it a subtle effect as opposed to making everything look like it's got inch-deep craters all over its surface
