Thank you for this awesome tutorial! I have had this plane since it came out and only started flying it last week after watching your videos on it... I successfully did a VOR to VOR flight with it today being a IRL pilot that much I can do. Now I want to go learn and use the NVU and the KLN90! Keep the videos coming!

Thanks for this. Great video, you explained everythign clearly and concisely.

Mind you, KLN's VNAV doesn't do anything for the Tupolevs systems since it not connected in, only LNAV is. Fuel is has no connection to it in the real plane either. Really nice explanation of the KLN unit btw :)

OK, now the stuff done wrong: 1) NVU calculation switch goes on only after you reach 200km/h, it is done so because below that speed the doppler can be wonky! 2) landing lights go off at 120meters RA, you have a switch right of the retract ones that's the nose landing lights that stay on until 10k ft 3) didn't really see it, but just as a FYI: the gear handle goes to neutral both when raising/lowering them 4) the accumulated errors in the NVU part of the flight where due to the Z error, it's really not that accurate with it if you don't use correction(and also that you turned the Calc on too early) 5) You can preselect the HSI CRS for VOR any time you want

It can be but from what I see in other videos they use Garmin as well. Ironically when I fly in the states in the real world our GPS is also a kln90.

Great video series of a fantastic aircraft addon! Is there any chance you could possibly provide the checklist you've made for this beast? Thanks a lot in advance & all the best!

Watching those tu 154 videos is bad for my wallet. Nice explanations :)

I'm a bit late, I know, but I have a question. If I'm on Vatsim or some other network and I'm vectored, how would I calculate the next course and distance for the NVU without having to refer to an outside flight tracking source? Thank you in advance :)
@PGatcomb5 жыл бұрын
The good thing about the NVU is that it can tell you how far away you are from the point you're travelling towards. So in the event that ATC calls for an offset, you know exactly how many KM (and the radial) that offset is. Getting to the next point would just be a matter of comparing the desired track just like you would on a VOR radial. It would definitely require some quick work on the navigators part to pull off if it got messy. If they want to do something like give you your next waypoint, then all you'd have to do is dial in where it is relative to you at some point in the future, and then swap to it. Definitely would require a calculation, but it wouldn't be that difficult if you had some warning.

@@PGatcomb thanks for the extensive reply, you've given me the motivation to try this all out on vatsim. Thank you very much!

@@TriStarL1011 I've done the Vatsim thing with this aircraft before, you definitely have to be careful with true and magnetic directions. Europe is the place to fly with it's "lesser" magnetic deviation. Let us know how it turns out.

Is the KLN90B the choice of navigation among Russian aircraft or what the hell?
