Shapovalov definitely has one of the most enjoyable PoVs for videos like this. The aesthetic quality of his baseline game is undeniable. People are rightfully disappointed with his results and play so far compared to his talent, but Wawrinka didn't win a 1000 or Major until he was 28, which is still 4+ years out for Shapo (turns 24 next month).

that is true and wawrinka is legit the closest player you can compare shapo to...amazing 1 hander ,huge weapons and shotmaking ability but incredibly inconsistent and mentaly weak many times.

Amazing hitting. The speed of the ball is incredible between these two. Such a joy to watch.

Two of my favorite players to watch, they really need to incorporate the serve and volley into their games. Both are monster groundstroke strikers but when you go against elite retrievers like Novak, Danil, Carlos and Nadal it's hard to get past any one of them 😢

If Felix started serving and volleying, it would be impossible to break him. His serve is so hard to manage, even his second serve. Plus, he's 6'4" tall and has good hands. I don't know why his coaches don't encourage him to come in. Seems like the obvious next step for him.

Thank you for this impeccable clip. You've made another lefty single hander tennisnerd a very happy man 😉 As for Shapo, he definitely needs a new coach with some authority and discipline (maybe Ljubicic, Lendl, Edberg, Muster or Federer)

@@skylaxx Shady? I what way? From what I know, he is a highly respected coach and commentator. He has an excellent track record of working with talented players. I have never heard he is "shady," but maybe you know something I don't.

Do you find the ball has more pace when watching live?
@12kgpTennis Жыл бұрын
Yes, although it's also quite noticeable how gritty/slow the courts are at IW after the ball hits the court.

Shapo is a lefty and played first, the right hander is van de Zandschulp.

I definitely can’t argue with the results, but it seems like Shapo is about 1/10th of a second late on his forehand. Especially when he nets it.
@sliceserve234 Жыл бұрын
Is Shapovalov hitting just a little late on the forehands? Agassi would not approve.
