As always, feel free to comment on what in particular you would like to see in these practice videos (or particular players). I know some prefer the players just hitting/rallying while others prefer point play... actual matches are a no-go for obvious reasons.

I think videos like this one are a great blend of both worlds. We can see some casual hitting where intensity goes up gradually and then some point play. I try to do what they do and record clips of myself from the same court level camera angle to see my flaws and make it correct next time: kzbin.info/door/XlaXI4aOin8rq9dof9LFPg

@Sup boi - Just the price to get admission into the venue. Once there, you can watch any practice going on without charge. In prior years, IW used to be free for qualifying rounds (which meant free practices). This year, they starting charging $10 for qualies (although they made up for it by giving free parking for the tournament, when it used to be $25)

I really wonder what Mouratoglou is bringing to Rune's game. For me, Rune is the biggest contender to become Alcaraz' rival should the big 3 era come to an end (which it won't soon, judging from Djoko's form). At the same time, I find Mouratoglou to be a bit of a joke. The man has built an amazing tennis center, but that's mostly thanks to the family fortune. His tennis instructional videos are off - even Rune seems to act awkwardly in those. Still, they have a coaching relationship. Maybe M. brings the network, the structure, the mental aspect?
@bobbyearles4230 Жыл бұрын
Agreed re Rune being Carlos's biggest competition. Rune is like a modern day Agassi to me. He's not *that* good, but he's pretty close. My theory is that Mouratoglou is a good salesman, and he's figured out how to help maximize players' marketing ability/public image. And that he's got a good team of actual coaches who do the day-to-day work. However, I do notice that Rune seems to be a little less annoying on the court, and has shown better sportsmanship as of late. Maybe that's Mouratoglou's influence. But it also could just be him growing up as well.
@knotwilg3596 Жыл бұрын
@@bobbyearles4230 That's a good take at it.

I have no idea why people say that Mourataglou is off and if top players consistently go to him, which they have. Why on earth do all the youtube commentors think he's a joke?
@knotwilg3596 Жыл бұрын
@@sjp4565 I don't know about the rest of the YTers but in my case it's because his technical videos are really weird, like advising Holger Rune to slice through and forward, while all modern professionals (including Rune when he's not featuring in M's promo material) make a vertical, U-shape slice. That's just one example. Many of his vids have cringeworthy technical advice. I don't know why he does that. He doesn't seem to need it, given that he coaches world class players. He's clearly a successful business man and looking at Rune's progress, he might be a good mental coach. But when he talks about tennis, it's bordering on the ridiculous.
@sjp4565 Жыл бұрын
@Knotwilg I've seen the slice video and you still clearly make a U. You just contact the ball close to the body for action and follow through where the ball is going.
