As a die hard M's fan thank you for making this video. He never got the respect he was due because he pitched on a garbage team in the middle of nowhere as far as the rest of the country is concerned. But I tell you when you saw his stuff in his prime you knew he was one of the greatest. I've seen Randy Johnson, Pedro, the rocket and I tell you Felix is right up there.

I was at his last King's Court and it was emotional. He loaded the bases up, and then the Athletics hit very far and deep, but a player named Dylan Moore had a fantastic running, jumping catch to save the inning for King Felix. It was amazing! I think Felix Hernandez should be a Hall of Famer Even though he doesn’t have the numbers. Like you mentioned, he represented an entire city, he did so with such class, and he was an ambassador for the game of baseball. I think a players ability to motivate the city they play in and their effect on the game as a whole should be just as important as their on field performance when voting players into the Hall of Fame.

As a Venezuelan I remember in the 2010s we debated hotly whether Felix Hernandez could eventually become a better pitcher than Johan Santana, unfortunately injuries undermined their game and both had to retire early. Essentially 5 years later Santana was KO and Felix was starting his hellish battle against injuries. Also, I'd add that 2005-2015 was probably the golden age for Venezuelans in the MLB, from Ozzie Guillen's White Sox winning the WS against all odds to these 2 Venezuelans dominating the pitching arena. I remember those days with a lot of nostalgia because it seemed the Venezuelan baseball was going up as a rocket, but then things started to stag and the take off suddenly stopped (that's a topic for another debate). Is also unfortunate that Felix's pick for Seattle meant that during his career he didn't have as much offensive (batting) support nor the out-of-the-diamond support from a large fan base or the media as he would have if he had played for the Yankees or Boston, because in this cases there are no doubts he would have won way more games and probably one or two more Cy Youngs. Anyways, I wish Felix could make a come back and throw some good 5 seasons in a good team. It is kinda sad that both Felix Hernandez and Johan Santana had to retire earlier in their career due to injuries, with no mejor MLB titles and without the numbers to make it to the HOF, because this doesn't make justice to their talent and because a lot of people won't realize how dominant both were during their peaks.

Freddy Garcia was a good pitcher but in that team he was barely a secondary actor, unfortunately Felix Hernandez' Mariners never were close to be that good, other than having Ichiro Suzuki as teammate or another occasional talent who left the team shortly after.
